Re: 2022 Bands Ranking List

There have been a few more announcements since my last post and there is still literally only a single band on the lineup so far that I would go out of my way to see: Dimmu Borgir There are a handful of others (Testament, Marcuful Fate, Nanowar Of Steel, Avatar, Cyhra, Skarlett Riot) that I'd watch ...

Re: Strategy Board Games

Anyone into strategy board games? Ahhh, yes. That would be me. I run a twice yearly board gaming convention in Buckinghamshire. I tend to favour games that reward skillful play rather than luck. I like worker placement, modular boards, variable end game goals and auction mechanics. My favourites wo...

Re: Unleash the Archers

Superb band, but sadly we've missed the boat. They're not planning to return to Europe in 2022. Maybe we can get them back in 2023.

1. Dimmu Borgir

...and I have literally no interest in any of the other announced acts so far.

Re: Amyl and The Sniffers

I'd never heard of them before, but wholeheartedly approve of the band name. Sadly the linked video doesn't make me think they'd be a good fit for Bloodstock.

Re: Vicky's Gone Then

I got burned on Facebook over this, so I'm reluctant to contribute too much. Suffice to say that the situation is not as clear cut as people make it out to be. I have some sympathy for metaldinosaur's views, even if I don't agree with all of them. I'm disappointed (but not entirely surprised) to see...

Re: Use of Referendums

Referendums should, broadly speaking, (virtually) never be binding. Legally binding or not, it's virtually impossible for a government to press ahead with a policy when the majority has voted for something else. Cameron could have said "yeah, but it was only advisory - we'll stay in the EU&quo...

Oddly, I was talking to him about that at Bloodstock. He just says he can't be arsed with the forum any more.

Re: Twitter

If you have to split your message into seven parts, then you're using the wrong website to convey your message. Very much this. It's a terrible platform for virtually anything. Microblogging is a horrible fad, and people are having to find way around that (splitting a post over multiple messages, p...

Re: Bloodstock Quiz

I just made this quiz to guess all the main stage bands throughout the festival's history. Hopefully it's more accurate than Bloodstock's own History page! https://www.sporcle.com/games/themasterofpop/bloodstock-festival-2005-2018 Well that's embarrassing. I had a complete blank, and only managed 5...

Re: The Voting Age

Just raise it back to 21 If they remove income tax and NI contributions from your pay until you're 21 too then fine. Why do you believe those things should be linked? Income tax is needed to fund running the country. NI is used to fund benefits. Neither of which have any bearing on voting age. It's...

Just read the first two books of SA Corey's "The expanse" series. So far so good. Before that it was Barbara Hambly's "Darwath" trilogy.

Re: The Book thread

I've been reading Laurel K Hamilton's "Anita Blake" series, which makes for fairly lightweight, throwaway reading. After those, I read Karin Lowachee's "Warchild". It was billed as space opera (a genre I love), but I don't think it quite fits into that category. I enjoyed it, tho...
