Got a few bottles of ale online the other day. Thoughts so far:
Brooklyn Chocolate Stout - Arse. I didn't realise it was an imperial stout, otherwise I'd have avoided it. It basically tastes like soy sauce with a chocolate aftertaste. Neither me nor my flatmate could stomach for than a few sips.
Discworld Bugrup Blonde - Initially it's mostly tasteless, but then kind of hits you hard with a sharp, unpleasant taste. Definitely selling itself on Discworld branding. Cool label though!
Dark Star Espresso - Currently drinking it now. Wouldn't want more than a single bottle of it, as the only taste I'm getting is cold coffee.
Avoid 'em all
The Ale Thread.

All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!

Re: The Ale Thread.
Everards have put a barrel of "5.0% Shades of Ale" on at the village pub. Strong and sweet. Rather nice, bit difficult to drink more than a pint.
If it sounds good, listen to it

Re: The Ale Thread.
Think this thread needs a bit of a Real Ale Twatting!
Shepherd Neame - Spooky Ale 4.7%
I bought this out of boredom an hour or so ago. On offer at 99p. You start off thinking "okay, this is one of those malty roasty ones" but it gets old quickly. But what the hell, it's taken the edge off a bit so I'm happy.

Yeah you can get pretty much all those random Shepherd Neame jobs for a quid in Lidl. They all taste exactly the same too, but they do the trick and I guess that's all you can expect at that price.

Re: The Ale Thread.
doing the dudley winters ale fest, in about a week so will report what i find.
Nightmare world
Reflected as a dream
Vision blurred
This surely cannot be
Twisted now
Far from reality
Delving into depths
Mankind’s depravity

I'm pretty sure I once had something from Shepherd Neame that didn't taste like it had spent the night over a bonfire. I may have dreamt it though.

Whitstable Bay? The only ale of theirs I've had that doesn't taste like tree bark.

This sort of weather I can highly recommend York Brewery's Centurion's Ghost. It's fucking brilliant.

I was drinking that in York recently.
Same! I find it's a nice beer, but it's not as amazing as all the locals like to make out it is in my book.

I remember trying a pint of that stuff. It lasted a couple of sips before the army of hops claimed victory over my taste bud stamina. At least those are my memories of it. Either way, still horrid.

That day after Jameson Raid when i missed the bus I had to go down to Aimee's to book my flight home and Shepherd Neame have a pub with a chippy attached down there. Very nearly went for lunch there because they do Spitfire battered sausages but it was too expensive.
They'll always have a special place in my heart as the first ales I started drinking (£2.50 for bottles of 1698 Celebration ale at nearly every gig back in the day) but fuck me most of their stuff is rank.

Just had a bottle of Boondoggle, it didn't help me finish my assignment, but it was very nice!
They say the pen is mightier than the sword... well, I say fuck the pen! Cause you're gonna die by the sword!

I haven't had a Ringwood beer that I've liked yet.
