The Wrestling Thread
Re: The Wrestling Thread
I wish I was more bothered about Wrestlemania, but at this point i'm not even sure I will buy it. Cena will beat Rock in a crap match, HHH will beat Lesnar, Taker will beat Punk (though I hope that one may actually be cool) and the rest of the matches look meh. I hope Orton turns out to be the leader of Shield but I kind of doubt it and they'll probably just get a good thrashing.
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Orton is turning heel, I hope he turns out to be the leader of the Shield too, but the match I am looking forward to is the Mark Henry vs Ryback match, I just think maybe they can do something spectacular with them 2, maybe i'm being too generous to them, but i'm hoping that they both bring something extra to the table
The Taker vs Punk match will steal the show, Punk will drag him through that match if he has to, but i'm expecting him to make a pint this year, he is for me the best guy in the company bar none at the moment

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Orton as leader of The Shield would be a good thing as far as the angle is concerned but I'm not sure how he'd work in the ring with Ambrose and Rollins. Orton's a great performer and even though he can only do about 5 different things in the ring he does them all well. He'd really have to push he creativity or he'd end up stiffling theirs.
Also I agree 'Mania is looking pretty lackustre this year. Supercard Of Honor is the night before and that honestly looks more exciting right now.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Impact was good last night, good to see petey williams even if just to announce a match for next week (they bring in 3 guys and make them get ready for a match just to announce a match, seems pointless to me) and looking forward to hardy vs bully ray more now.

Mania tends to be more about the show and the spectacle nowadays rather than the matches, but I can see a couple of good ones in there, it's whether they perform on the night, they have some very green guys on the card now, guys like Fandango in Mania already, i'm not convinced, and Ryback I think is 1 year too soon for a 1 on 1 match aswell
And Puff Daddy is performing, why have WWE turned their back on metal the past 5 yeras, it seems to be all hip hop and radio pop/rock nowadays

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Ryback is good but he's doomed to a bad match cause henry is just absolute shit. Everything he does is shit. Totally wrong opponent for ryback.
As for fandango, he's not had a match yet, unless you count his nxt matches, so how can anyone comment on whether he belongs on the card or not? He could steal the show.
for me though, wrestlemania is all about what wwe call wrestlemania moments, those moments that stay in your mind. Not much opportunity for any this year as theres been no build, i dont care about a single match. Rather ironically the one with the best build has been the one with least time, rock vs cena. Cena's promo on raw was one of his best.

I was thinking more to how much experience he has with that size crowd, he's not even been on the main show for any amount of time ,and isn't he just a new character for a guy who's been on NXT for a few years now

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yeah he is, nxt matches are like indy matches though, the show is not even televised in the US. So i can see your point, but i think it'll just motivate him. Not many people get their debut at WM against someone like jericho. This match will make or break his career.

I take my hat off to Jericho personally, it's obvious he's going to lose the match

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yeah its good to see a guy like jericho putting over younger guys. He has nothing left to prove really so no point beating everybody. Sting could learn from his example.

Problem with Sting is he's still the top guy, if he was in the mid card like Jericho maybe it would make more sense for him to lose to the new guys ?

They are two guys who never should be put together but WWE never learns that these "clash of the titans" matches are never entertaining. Henry is definitely the better of the two though, Ryback is one of the most boring guys in the ring i've ever seen.

Last time there was something like this was Lesnar vs Goldberg and they were both in their last match and stank the arena out
