Started reading Down and Out in Paris and London the other day. Orwell never disappoints.

"Deadhouse gates" I didn't find to be as compelling a story as the first one. However, it has some of the most intense, gut wrenching moments of any book I've read to date.

I've heard it's a major change in style from the first and not typically as good. Also I've heard it's confusing as balls at parts. I believe a character changes gender because the author fucked up

Started and finished Paper Towns by John Green in 2 days. Great read - in fact, I probably preferred it to The Fault in Our Stars.

Had The Saga of The Volsungs, and The Tales of Ragnar Lodbrok delivered today. Along with the Poetic, and Prose Edda . . They should keep me happy for a few weeks.

Well...my brother bought me the entire Malazan Book of the Fallen series for Christmas. That'll be some light reading.

Just finished reading The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. Fantastic book, thanks to Sam for recommending that one. Took a bloody long time to read it though.

Now starting Ghost Rider by Neil Peart. Really feelsy so far, found myself reading until 1am on a school night.

I'll be obliged to read this book that a colleague wrote, after that, I think.

Making a start on Deadhouse Gates tonight when I get home. Might as well start on the 9 outstanding books I have.

Shit...Brandon Sanderson's Firefight is also out. WHY DO YOU HATE ME LACK OF FREE TIME?!

Probably the best in the series if you ask me. A lot of aimless walking around for the first part, but the payoff is great towards the end.

I heard it's a bit of a Marmite book with Malazan fans actually, will let you know.

Although I did also just start Brandon Sanderson's Firefight (sequel to Steelheart) but I can power through this one!

Dusted off the old magic book slate (my Kindle) last night and have downloaded a few books onto it.
Figured this was the best way to go about reading for the time being, as I'm soon to be leaving Australia and could do without the added weight of books to read.

Started and finished Simon Rich's "The Last Girlfriend on Earth" (aka "Man Seeking Woman", the name of the TV series adapted from it) and loved it. A collection of bizarre short stories about relationships (or lack thereof), including a guy dealing with his ex-girlfriend now dating Hitler, the story of a condom's life in a guy's wallet told from the condom's perspective, and what it would be like dating the last girl left on earth after a plague wipes out the rest of the female species.

I've got The Strain lined up, and have just started Nick Offerman's "Paddle Your Own Canoe". So far so good.

Just finished (I took my time I'll admit). Really enjoyed it. Proper cluster fuck of everything going wrong at the end.
