Re: Cooking!
My latest thing : Teriyaki chicken skewers, cajun wedges, and salad with Asian dressing (soy, mirin and honey).
I'm quite pleased with myself :3

Re: Cooking!
Looks reet good.
Had my first go at making veggie burgers today. The ones I fried - as per the recipe - fell apart a bit but tasted OK. Tried grilling one and that held together much better.
Four veggie quarter pounders for not much more than a quid...and I reckon I could have done even better if I'd shopped around for cheap kidney beans.
Lots of scope for experimentation with different veg/beans/spices.

Re: Cooking!
Made a choccie cake yesterday for first time in ages. Topped it with plain choc.
Could not be bothered with a bain marie to melt it so simply put small pieces on top of a hot from the oven cake. Melted really quickly. I just had to spread the choc with a palette knife. Sorted

Re: Cooking!
Today's farewell to unhealthy eating dinner consisted of a mountain of sweet honey and chipotle glaze pulled pork, Morrocan cous cous with harissa paste, potato salad, coleslaw, fried crab claws, chilli crab meat salad and a side of cheesy olive bread with a selection of cheeses and Mediterranean cold meats. And 2 big slabs of my ma's pavalova for afters. Slow cooked and fluffy, none of this chewy in the middle meringue shite!

Re: Cooking!
My girlfriend this evening declared that I make a fantastic parsley sauce. It was accompanying a boiled ham.

Tried cooking asparagus for the first time. I've never had it before.
I need more of this shit in my life. It's fucking amazing. It was supposed to go with garlic roast baby potatoes and steak, but the steak was off

Re: Cooking!
I tend to just either recreate my favorite subway sandwich or do handmade burger company cheesburgers from their recipe that i downloaded (after scaling down the quantities by about 30 or something). My favourite meals are stuff like steak tartare, goulash, beef sirloin and also risotto, but they have to be done better than I reckon I could do them.

Re: Cooking!
Cooking Haggis Scotch Eggs at the moment. Just like normal Scotch Eggs with a 50:50 mix of haggis and pork - not sure how well they'd hold together with just haggis.
**Update** They've finished cooking and I've tried one. They're pretty awesome. Might do these again for Burns' night.
Gonna experiment with making them using minced goat meat soon.

Re: Cooking!
Made my first biriyani earlier. Why haven't I done this before? Certainly adding it to my general recipe circulation!
Re: Cooking!
Had some leftover bolognase sauce* in the fridge that needed using up, so I've chucked some carrots, parsnips and diced beef in the slow cooker and poured it over with some beef stock.
I dub thee, Beef Bolognase Casserole.
Gonna serve it with mashed potatoes. Results to follow.
*- Homemade bolognase sauce, I should add. Consisting of finely chopped mushrooms, carrots, celery, (I think) broccoli and tomato passata. Tbh if I'd added curry powder and some coconut cream it could have made a bitchin' curry.

Re: Cooking!
Well that was rather splendid.
I buggered up the mash slightly by undercooking the potatoes and putting a little too much pepper in, but overall I'm happy.
I am also rather full.
