I am a royalist, a rather ardent one in my old age. However, it is a difficult thing to cover. I think the news has got the flavour of it wrong, its too over the top and feels rather performative.

I haven't been watching either of them, or watch news broadcasts in general; radio tends to have a much better idea of conveying happenings as reporters don't have to worry about finding graphics to hammer home the points.
That being said, news networks aren't short of upcoming ceremonial events from the royal family, much of it occurring for the first time in most of our lives so I can't begrudge a heavy focus on it all until she's laid to rest and the majority of the other changes associated with the change of monarch have been made and covered.
