I can't believe that Labour supporters are still voting in this poll. You can vote on here as much as you want, Labour aren't going to win the 2017 election.

Are any of you gonna vote in the local elections? Only the Lib-Lab-Con are up in my area so I'm not going to bother.

Definitely. It's a weird one for me, because centrally I would vote Conservative, but in respect of local Councillors, the Labour Councillors in South Leeds do a really good job for us locally.

I'll vote, our current Labour MP is a top bloke, the Tory we had before was an absolute cockwomble. Not that I'd ever vote Tory anyway.

Yep. I'll be doing everything I can to vote our current Labour council out of power.

I have a polling card, but I'm not sure if there's any point in voting. If I remember I always go to vote whatever the election is, but I'm actually moving away from Reading in a couple of weeks and don't know if I'll be living here again so the results could have no bearing on me. :?

I reckon there is no need for political parties at local gov. level - all the candidates should be independent and voted on according to their personal CVs and qualities. Having said that, I would vote for a Green.

"Last week’s local elections were a textbook lesson in why we need to change the way we elect our local councils. From the wrong party winning, to councils with zero scrutiny, using Westminster’s voting system to decide who controls council’s multi-million-pound budgets is a disaster waiting to happen."

16% voter turnout in my local council by-election yesterday. 2 candidates - Labour and Independent. Labour got it by around 30 votes.

Good to see democracy alive and well.

A very good article on race and immigration from the left-leaning New Statesman:

I wonder how many 'potentially' academically gifted working class people are unable to fully understand that article due to the fact that Labour got rid of grammar schools and therefore denied them a REAL education to develop their full potential? (personally I think that Labour got rid of grammar schools to stop ordinary people from voting anything other than Labour)
