Was hoping that we'd get more posts/votes on the polls with this one being a bit more central and on a Saturday, but I'm still well up for it, even if it turns out there's only two of us.

I feel bad about missing the last one but I was really rather skint and was also very keen to do the Framework "Big Sleepout" that weekend.

I had quite a few non-alchoholic beerish products during my month on the Dryathlon, here are some that were pretty good.

Schneider Weisse Tap 3 Mein Alkoholfreies - Does a very good impersonation of a Heffeweizen at only 0.25% (might still be available at Brew Cavern, they had it on offer for Dry January)
Guinness Malta - Very malty and sweet, tastes like a non-alcoholic version of Guinness Export, as opposed to standard Guinness (available from the Caribbean stall in the market)
Bundaberg Root Beer - Not as beer-like as the others I've listed, but very nice and alcohol free (available to take away from Brewdog)
All right, so I MADE a mistake! ONE MISTAKE!
Can't a man start over?! Do I have to keep on PAYING?! HUH?!
Maybe I should make another mistake! ...maybe TWO more!

Me and my brother probably would of been up for this one. But we're going to Wales that day to a beer festival at the Llangollen Railway. Beer and steam trains win over Sheffield I'm afraid.

I keep meaning to go to an event similar to that, which they do in Chesterfield each May

It's a beer festival in an engine shed. :D We've been there when there was an event on and even then they had a bar set up which had about 10 handpumps on. Easy to get to as they have free shuttle buses from the station.

What we're doing is going up and down the railway all day drinking beer. The beer is secondary. :eyes: They have the beer festival in the station and they let you take it on the trains. They also sell bottles in the buffet cars. Really good day out, even if you don't like trains.

I think any more after this should happen in conjunction with a special event like a one-off gig, because people just won't turn up for one reason or another. The first RAT worked because everyone was in Derby anyway for Hell. Without something like that, people just have other shit to do closer to home.
If it sounds good, listen to it

Yeah. Definitely going ahead with this one cos I'm looking forward to it now, but Will's right -the next one should be tagged onto something else where quite a few of us are likely to be in the same area anyway.

Just added a poll on what time to start.

Went with Danroush's suggestion of 4pm and two hours variance either way. Personally, I reckon 2pm is probably too early and 6pm is probably too late, but any of the others is fine with me. Gonna go with 4pm as my vote.

Added a new option to the poll in case there's anyone who wants to come along but is happy with any of the available start times.

Also extended the cutoff a bit.

Sorry if you've already voted, you'll have to re-register your vote.

Anyone got any route ideas?

Once the start time poll has finished, I'm going to put up some routes for people to vote on.

So far, we've got:

The Kelham Island Route: (some public transport involved)
Sheffield Tap (virtually in the station)
(bus)
Harlequin
Fat Cat
Kelham Island Tavern
(tram)
Henry's
Rutland Arms (5 mins from the station on foot)

The Central Route:(all on foot)
Sheffield Tap
Henry's
Tap & Tankard
Bath Hotel
Devonshire Cat
Rutland Arms

If you're definitely coming along, drop me a PM so we can exchange numbers.

If you're going for this route, you could always try and squeeze in the Old Queen's Head as well. It is about 1-2 minutes from the Tap (beside the Bus Station). It's a decent pub, and one of the oldest in the city/county.

Just sent you a text. If you get it, we're sorted.

Sorry about the missed calls. I blame the barley wine.

Might be able to fit that in at some point, yeah. Looks like a nice pub.
