Just finished Stone Junction by Jim Dodge, bit Neil Gaiman-ish. Odd.

Just reading Everybody Loves Our Town by Mark Yarm (wish I'd looked at it in a shop instead of ordering online, it's too similar in style and content to Greg Prato's Grunge Is Dead) and The Three Musketeers (never read it before).

So, Jane Eyre turned into re-reading Neverwhere.

Damn you and your advances, Neil Gaiman

Also, just finished re-reading Neverwhere, and considering my next move.

Reading American Gods, just to continue the Neil Gaiman theme in here.

Finished 'White Crow' by Marcus Sedgwick a couple of days ago - his books are plain and simple teen novels, no amazing writing, but they're so unexpectedly creepy and dark, I can't help but enjoy them.

You all need to read The Lies Of Locke Lamora. Utterly brilliant.

Somewhere along the line John Ringo seems to have become one of my regular authors.

exchanged my queens experience bursary for a waterstones voucher seeing as the university shut down there own bookshop. Decided it's time to read all the supposed classics of detective fiction seeing as I do plan eventually on writing a detective novel set in Belfast. So I came away with;

Dashell Hammet- The Maltese Falcon
James Ellroy- The Black Dahlia
Raymond Chandler- The Big Sleep
Stieg Larrson- Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
Jo Nesbo- The Redbreast

and just cause i've never read it,

Irving Walsh- Trainspotting

Inheritance turned up yesterday. Is it bad I'm already nearly 200 pages in?

The Inheritance Cycle aren't the best books I've ever read by any stretch, but they're entertaining when I want undemanding prose and as they took up a fair portion of my teenage years, I am all shades of excited (and a little sad) to get to the end :)

Peter Benchley - Beast
Peter Benchley's pinacle for me, this book builds on themes he created with Jaws to craft an excellent and very, very chilling book. Not much more to say other than it gets a thumbs up from me.
8/10

Will Adams - The Exodus Quest
Will Adams takes an even darker tone with this book and ignores even more the Dan Brown school of writing that he started his career with. Unfortunately, this may not have been the smartest move. I felt this book dragged too much for me to get involved with in a way I would have liked, and little attention is paid to creating a fluid story. Some of the new characters weren't entirely believable, though I did eventually enjoy the end of the plot. I'll certainly be reading his next novel, but I would hope he goes back to his earlier style.
5/10

Bernard Cornwell - The Burning Land
With the release of Death of Kings, the latest in his Saxon series, I realised I couldn't remember what the hell happening in the last book, so...time for a re-read! Having finished this one for a second time now, I wonder why I had trouble recalling the plot as its certainly one of the better of this series and far more memorable than its predecessor, the rather ploddy Sword Song. One of his faster paced Saxon novels for sure and crammed with extra blood and gore, I zipped through this one again in no time. Expect a review of Death of Kings to follow soon.

Just read the latest Kathy Reichs book, Virals.

Much better than her previous few releases. Relates to a distant relative of her previous main character, Tempe Brennan, called Tory. Very good read.

Picked one up to read on the train: Matthew Reilly - Area 7

Fast paced, utterly daft and with a higher HSQ than any other writer on the planet.
