Turns out my deceased great uncle had a few hobbies and one of them were, whilst fighting in WW2 was to collect Luftwaffe tunic patches. We came across them with about 50 Reichsmark, some old as fuck French francs (one note dated 1888). The estate and belongings were split between my mum and her siblings and so far her horde of artifacts are almost certainly the most interesting.

Bound to be an Eisenkreuz somewhere in this shit, or Adolfs left testicle.

No. You literally have never told me that. Turns out King Faisal II gave him a solid gold wristwatch for leading a parachute demonstration on his birthday. A watch which later got torn off his wrist by a snapped strap on a parachute and flung out of a plane in Cyprus, found on the salt lake a few days later, given as a gift to his dad and is now in a box in the attic somewhere.

My grandad gave me his when I was a child. He said he'd removed them from Germans that no longer needed them. I was quite upset when my mum wouldn't let me sew one of the swastikas onto my track suit top to go with my 5m, 10m and 25m swimming badges that were sewn there! I was too young to really appreciate why at the time. I've lost the patches, but I still have the SS ceremonial dagger he took, again from an officer he said no longer needed it.

My Great Uncle had a Luger that he was given by a Afrika Korps officer in the desert campaign. Had the photograph of it getting handed over as well. He died in the 1960s and gave it to my Nan for safe keeping. Ironic thing was he was of a second generation German immigrant family and fluent in German. Some relatives were actually interned on the Isle Of Man.

A few years ago my Uncle asked my Nan where it was. She had given it into the police because there was a gun amnesty and panicked thinking she would get into trouble.
