It might as well have been written by Stephen King... I love it!

Aye its like what would be the outcome if King, Spielberg and John Carpenter had an orgy. With a splash of Silent Hill and some bad ass synth thrown in because why the fuck not.

Yeah I really like that, been watching it as close to Wednesday's (Friday's) as possible.

Robot Wars was good. A couple of dull fights, but otherwise entertaining.

I binged the entire series on Saturday. It has its flaws but on the whole it was excellent, a really nostalgic throwback to the films I grew up with. Great casting, good storytelling, mostly good pacing. Some dodgy effects work but that's to be expected in a TV series like this (may even have been somewhat intentional).

Netflix's original series are generally pretty impressive. I hope they continue to invest in quality shows.

It's a shame, because Foxic is actually a very good robot... when it works! Craig (the driver) seemed to be the victim of some editing because he's really nothing like that in person, and he spent two hours doing repairs on Nuts from episode 1 to get them able to fight again. Overall the show is still doing well :D

Apparently he was trying to go for a "villain" role, which could have worked, but when his robot had done bugger all, that arrogant posturing made him come across really badly.

I loved it when he was calling someone else a coward in the last fight. Really mate?

Overall, I'm a little underwhelmed by Robot Wars' return. Dara O'Brian is no Craig Charles, he just doesn't seem to have the energy or interest, and the whole "league table" round thing means they just kind of rush through most fights in three seconds. Most of the robots seem pretty underwhelming as well, although given another year or two all those problems could get sorted out. It's still great to see it back.

Bit of a disappointing final battle on RW. Predictable finalists though.

All in all though, it was a good season. I enjoyed it.

Agree with all you said there. I'd add one more though - I think the league table reduces the carnage because people know they have a couple more fights. In the old series if you lost, the winner and the house robots would often tear them limb from limb. In the new series, the house robots did pretty much nothing all series and the winners just disabled them and then left it. Also, whilst I know Dara is passionate about this stuff he really needs to tell himself that. Thought the final was pretty good though.

The final was good, all the robots were at least decent and had some form of competition. Bit disappointed by the final match itself though, mostly because (*MILD SPOILER*) both the weapons died so it was just two robots driving around. It was an enjoyable return overall though, hopefully it comes back for another series. If it does though, hopefully Craig Charles will be back, and they get rid of that stupid league system, or at least change it so its in round one, with a couple more rounds of robots actually trying to fight each other.
