Re: Next Announcement

The Saturday line-up would have gone down really well ten years ago, haven't heard anyone clamoring for Sylosis or Toxic Holocaust or Paradise Lost recently, slightly surprised they're still going.

Re: 2019 Albums

Blackwater Holylight - Veils of Winter

Spooky Doom Metal with female vocals and hard Rock riffs, bit of a late entry but this could be one of my albums of the year.

Flying Abroad for Concerts

I'm considering flying to Lisbon next Summer for the Mercyful Fate concert, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on when to fly out, finding hotels, general dos and don't etc. that would be helpful to know before I book anything. Also thought this would be an interesting topic in general for peopl...

Re: Next Announcement

MF will only be booked if they can get a 90 minute Special Guest spot like Avantasia in 2013, King Diamond won't play anywhere that he can't perform the whole show, he doesn't cut his setlist for anything. Also they're bringing a KD style stage show this time around so would need extra time to set up.

Re: Album artwork.

The artstyle is great and these paintings are technically very impressive, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the imagery looks maybe 10 years out of date? Like if I saw any of these as album covers I'd assume the album came out in the 2000s, especially the second one. They still look great for sure, ...

Re: Next Announcement

As far as shows go they seem to still be playing pretty humble venues, but they have 20000 monthly listeners on Spotify(more than Memoriam, Venom Prison etc.) and 1000 album sales on Bandcamp, may not seem like much now but those are very respectable numbers for a band who just released their debut ...

Re: Next Announcement

Great announcement imo, Cattle Decap are the biggest Death Metal band going, Green Lung are the biggest metal band to come out of the UK in years and Memoriam are a solid booking too. Still going unless they book MF but very solid announcement today.

Re: Ghost

Saw them in Glasgow, crowd was pretty sparse and not as engaged as I would've expected for such a sing-along band, didn't notice anyone falling about drunk thankfully, saw far more of that at Volbeat in September, but that was a smaller venue that was packed full. Ghost are at the stage of popularit...

Re: Next Announcement

Careful - you'll open yourself up for the predictable 'kids these days!' backlash  Back to your point, I would say that they're too big for the Sophie stage - but only because they've been away and haven't played live in so long (particularly in the UK). They will get the inevitable bump in cr...

Re: Next Announcement

I think Saxon are the Sunday special guests, I've a feeling a band like Testament will be playing as well. It would be fantastic if MF could play but as much as we post suggestions of bands we all want sometimes it really is either logistics or if a band wants to play another festival. Except there...

Re: Next Announcement

I think they'd already booked this year's headliners by the time MF reached out to festivals, so now they're stuck trying to book them sort of last second without a natural place to put them.

Re: Next Announcement

Just about any band that gets billed as "the future" never lives up to the hype, who predicted the success of Ghost, Sabaton, Volbeat? There are plenty of bands that are popular simply because people like their music, not because a label is trying to push them as the next big thing.
