Re: Metal 2 the Masses 2023
I thought I would give a quick shout out from Hitchin M2TM. We had our first semi-finals yesterday which saw Sentient and Extreme Death Art go through to the final (full disclosure, I'm the guitarist for EDA). The other bands on the bill however were very good. Velour Fog are really worth checking o...

Re: Bringing a 5 year old
There are people who bring younger kids along to the festival, it is kid friendly. Some do bring babies which seems a bit out there to me, but fair enough. I don't think that it's something I would do. There isn't really anything kid specific, I can imagine if your kid doesn't like metal then it may...

Re: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly BOA 2022
Disclaimer: I'm a relatively new dad, so my take on this is probably reflective of that new situation. I do take your point regarding the festivals nature, and indeed the nature of festivals themselves. And that a parent attending the festival should be the primary manager of their child's wellbein...

Re: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly BOA 2022
Not to throw petrol onto the bbq, but as a man if I decide to saunter around the festival schlong-out, is that acceptable? I would hope you would say it absolutely is not. It is not a nudist festival afterall. I'm not about to tell any lady whether they can go topless or not. I don't believe I am en...

Re: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly BOA 2022
I won't mention the weather, we all know and dealt with it (or didn't) in various ways. THE GOOD ========= Belphegor owning the festival. I knew they would be band of the weekend for me and didn't disappoint. I was thoroughly immersed. The security again were great people. I only saw a couple of sou...

Re: Why didn't they use all of the big screens?
That was one big thing about the festival for me. First, the fire logo, I get it, but in the heatwave? Hahaha, just seemed a bit of a joke. NB - read that as light hearted, not a complaint. But the few times for the headliners where they went full screen with it towards the end of the headliner sets...

MUST SEES: Dark Tranquillity Discharge Bloodywood Gwar Exodus Testament Behemoth Samael Dimmu Borgir Mercyful Fate Belphegor Dark Funeral MAYBES: Thuum Crepitation Killing Joke Lamb Of God As you can see, my Saturday seems quite empty. Apart from drifting between new blood and jager, anyone else you...

Re: Next announcement
To be honest, I'll find out who they are when everyone else does I guess. The only thing I really want them to do is make sure Samael and Dimmu Borgir don't clash. I'm a big black metal fan and to me this year's lineup doesn't have much of it. So making the main two BM bands clash as the clashfinder...

Re: Next announcement
My guess was going to circle around would it be a kid of someone in Amon Amarth having formed a band or something. But a quick 2 minute google (as much as I could be bothered to do) reveals not much that could compel that. So that's is totally out. If the secret band is an AA cover band, then there ...

Monday and VIP
Last time I was at Bloodstock, I spent a good amount of time carrying my gear back to the VIP car park. Just as I got done, I found that a bunch of people had driven onto a now very clear VIP and were packing down directly. I didn't know this was a thing; do people just wait until a certain time, go...

Re: Dress Code for Blood stock festival
To give you a point of reference, last time I was walking around with a ratty pair of shorts, some metal band t-shirt and a big tweed sunhat. I'd rather look like a donkey than end up with a sunburnt head. I would recommend you pack decent sun-defending things, be it some sort of hat and definitely ...

Re: 2022 Bands Ranking List
I am regrettably agreeing with all of this. It is becoming harder and harder for me to rationalise and defend the lineup choices to myself (and probably to others). In my opinion the last good year was 2017. Lots of great bands. Saturday to me is the real bust as there's nobody I'm burning to see un...

Oh god here we go again. Have you got your Fisher Price box of pre-filled out hurr durr Phil's a racist bullshit slogans on pretty flowery reassuringly biodegradable cards that smell like your farts at the ready? Why not let's get them all out in one plop so we don't have to hear about it for the se...

Re: Next announcement
They're headliners!?!? At a metal festival? What the actual sodding hell? So if Justin Beiber dons a bunch of garb lifted directly from the nearest black metal band and throws a few upside crosses around the place, he's suddenly bookable at Bloodstock? I've totally missed something. Really... I real...
