Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Last gig - Rhapsody of Fire @ Rebellion in Manchester... I quite liked Dendera - Power Quest / Season's End members doing some proper British pub metal  Sound was awful for both of the support bands, however. Rhapsody were fun, and the mrs remembered the words to both Holy Thunderforce AND Eme...

Re: Next Announcement

There's still only 1 band across the whole of Friday and Saturday that I'd go out my way to watch (Paradise Lost). Good grief this is looking pretty dire. Hope the weather is nice for campsite drinking otherwise I'm gonna be screwed. If you want to spend upwards of 200 quid to sit in a field drinki...

Re: Next Announcement

tbf its annoying me as yeah i feel lots of people wont check them out because of that. they are one of the most though provoking bands lyric content (sexual assult at gigs, abortion, dog breeding, femenism) wise and yeah they have hardcore elements...but to me they are a post black metal band. prou...

Re: Next Announcement

The only one I'd heard of is Acid Reign, and that's only via the caustic reviews of their latest album

Not regretting my Rhapsody / Helloween / VoA / HRH Vikings tickets yet

I reckon Delain will be there to fill up some of the space on Friday.

Glad I've been to see them in their packed-out tour venues. Seeing them in a half empty arena / on the Sophie with the joke bands wouldn't be quite the same.

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)

Fun little thing (to add a little levity to this topic) - confused Welsh village folk were Friday arguing with the woman running the shop. The reason ? They weren't able to buy their Euromillions tickets...

Re: Bands that got away... so far.

Cathedral some how - they seemed to be playing everywhere all of the time, for a period, but I never managed to catch them live.

Stratovarius - I actually have a ticket stub from a show of theirs, and photos of them at Bloodstock, but absolutely no memory of either event. I suppose that counts ?

Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Last - Delain (Ritz, Manchester) Absolutely fantastic. One of the best gigs I've been to - the support were good, sortof male-fronted Beyond the Black, but Delain were on fire. It was the release day for their new album, they were clearly impressed with the reception the new songs got, the crowd wer...

Re: Next Announcement

Interesting the way they are trying to sell this, as an "exclusive to weekend ticket holders" with its own poster and everything. They've never done that before. I get the feeling ticket sales are way down on what they expect, which really wouldn't shock me with this line up. Like Gandalf...

Re: worst band on the lineup ?

Objectively - Hatebreed - just dreadful, dreadful nonsense.

Subjectively - a joint win between Bury Tomorrow, Jinger, Butcher Babies, Hatebreed (add to the list if I've missed any of the other awful generic kerrangcore rubbish)

Re: Next Announcement

Well Sunday is still decent in a seen it all before sort of way, but there's barely a band on the other two days that i would watch in the pub next door. Shocking Decent? The first 5 bands on the main stage are dogshit, and fucking Hatebreed are headlining the Sophie tent. Decent? Yeah, it's defini...

Re: Next Announcement

Hatebreed, Bury Tomorrow, Sylosis.

Makes sense; the comments & discussions across social media last year were definitely full of complaints at the dearth of screamocore. Definitely remember that.

Skippy wrote:Also say Nekrogoblikon. Saw them last night, they were pretty good, and would fill the Evil Scarecrow slot pretty decently. The singer was a bit weird though, very little crowd interaction which doesn't really work for a gimmick band.

Play-for-free joke band ? or are they bigger than that ?
