Re: Next announcement
Looks like maybe a day ticket now that Graspop has sold out, so that I can see Mercyful Fate, but even then the rest of the day is dogshit so it would be begrudgingly That's the position I'm in at the moment - even then I'll probably just turn up for Dimmu Borgir and Mercyful Fate and then go home ...

Re: Next announcement
Man that Ferocious Dog band are a mixed bunch. 'The Hope' sounds like Goo Goo Dolls doing the Pogues. it's even got the bridge from Fairytale of New York; 'Sea Shepherd' / 'Sleeping Soldier' sounds like the bloke from Alestorm joined the Offspring & wrote lyrics with Atilla the Stockbroker. I ca...

Re: Next announcement
Very boring. There's so little on next years lineup that's any good and it's already mostly done. If not for Mercyful Fate I wouldn't even consider it. Not much more that I can add to this. Thirded. I'll have to disappoint my old festival family again & just get a day ticket  (Unless Fate ...

Re: Next announcement
Just checked in to see if the lineup was any good (gave this year a miss, didn't fancy catching COVID / drinking water from outside the toilets again) - Not a thrash / -core / comedy-vomit man, but I do want to see Mercyful Fate - might have to be a day ticket job ! Any rumours out there for other b...

Re: Necessity of a Smart-Phone
I've been using the same iPhone SE since 2016. Before that I had a positively antediluvian Blackberry. Apple getting their knuckles slapped about software-forced obsolescence means that it's a perfectly capable bit of kit, is made of actual metal and glass, and has a headphone jack. I'm sure I'll up...

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
Fun little thing (to add a little levity to this topic) - confused Welsh village folk were Friday arguing with the woman running the shop. The reason ? They weren't able to buy their Euromillions tickets...

Re: What should happen with Brexit?
. I would say it's not simply a case of people not liking the result and trying to get it changed after the fact (though, there is that too). I would say it is more to do with other points: 1. The bus / the lies / etc 2. People not fully realising what they were voting for and seemingly changing th...

Re: What should happen with Brexit?
It was right to have a referendum given how much the EEC/EC/EU has changed since the last vote This is fine. I agree that the country's relationship should be open to periodic reassessment, particularly as most of the electorate didn't get to decide the first time around. However, it would have bee...

Re: What should happen with Brexit?
Leave in some way - Not May's deal, which is an horrific fudge by a professional politician so far out of her depth it's kind of funny. Get in some private sector lawyers, advisors, & merger men to sort it out. The EU sent professionals on their side - the UK sent the kind of people that take Tw...

Re: The food thread
Since we got back from BOA this year, the mrs & myself have been making that "half a loaf of bread full of chilli / garlic bread / cheese" thing. Certainly saves on the washing up, and the amount of flavour is perfect cat repellent ! Can't make it in a slow cooker, but it is a one-pot ...
