Re: 2019 Albums

Re: Next Announcement

So is it because its priest that no one is up in arms about a repeat booking like they were with Slayer, Megadeth and many more that had more of a gap? I dunno, Nearly every other post on this thread since the announcement has been people saying its too soon. Me included. I like a few Mercyful Fate...

Re: Next Announcement

I like a few Mercyful Fate records but I hope to *insert deity of choice* that an SG slot isn't wasted on them. King Diamonds voice is truly awful now. He sounds like Tiny Tim. At least Tiny Tim sang in tune. I feel like if they are booked it will be on account of their status as a classic act rath...

Re: Next Announcement

Not a bad announcement but also it is hardly an earth shattering one. Priest were great last year but it was only last year. Love Behemoth though they wouldnt have been my first choice. All in all not too shabby. Hoping for some solid SGs and Sophie headliners

Re: 2019 Albums

Very rarely buy physical copies of anything these days. Just not practical space wise. Plus I dont have to travel into town on new music days to get an album that our crappy HMV may not even stock....Im an impatient man god dammit!

Re: Next Announcement

Personally hoping for Mayhem headlining the Sophie Stage, Avatar in a main stage slot and Accept in an SG slot!

Re: Next Announcement

 I get the joke and all that but when the old guard inevitably pass away these will be the bands that will stock the line up of festivals. So...yeah, they are the future of metal! Not to come over all metal archives, but really ? there's plenty of life in the metal-metal scene (even thrash !) ...

Re: 2019 Albums

Machine Head's new Do Or Die song... Rob Flynn is basically saying "fight me" to nigh on everyone over a bang average track. There's something sssssooooo edgy and cccrrrraaaazzzzyyyy about someone in their fifties repeating naughty words in one of their songs. He's such a baddass! Turns m...

Re: Next Announcement

Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, Helloween, Saxon, Amon Amarth, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Accept, Judas Priest : If at least two of these are not in the headline/SG/hour slot and substituted with sub-Copping hipster metal bands then BOA can GTF next year Watching some piss awful shouty version of Holy Diver...

Re: 2019 Albums

Top 5 for me this year and the reason why I liked it, in no particular order - Amon Amarth - Beserker (Angry, catchy and vikingy) Overkill - Wings of War (Thrashy, bat shit crazy) Sabaton - Great War (catchy eurovision-metal) Rammstein - self titled (Do we want to play heavy industrial or techno tra...

Re: Next Announcement

Devin, Devin, Devin. I have tried. Oh how many times I have tried but I just cant get into his stuff. Trust me I'm all for giving bands the fair time they deserve to truly appreciate what they do but whatever it is that DT is doing still eludes me. A number of years ago I felt exactly the same and ...

Re: Best Lyricists

It is a bit left field I think considering the history of the band but Im gonna say David Bower of Hell! I know the songs on the first album were predominantly Dave Hallidays lyrics so he deserves a mention too but Bower's lyrics on curse and chapter are nothing short of Shakespearean. Its his backg...

Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Last gig - Volbeat @Manchester Apollo. Absolutely fantastic! Managed to catch witch tripper at HRH doom to but only there set as it was a school night (for school read toddler who likes to get up a silly times in the morning).

Next gig will be Amon Amarth also at the apollo!
