Re: What has made you happy today
My laptop seems to be working again. I accidentally tricked it into fixing itself.

Re: What pissed you off today
My three month old laptop is now unusuable because Windows Vista updated itself and, in so doing, deleted something vitally important. I have a friend in IT who says he can get it working, but it involves formatting. His tip for the future is "You won't have any problems with Vista as long as y...

Re: movies
One of the advantages of being a student again is that I can go to morning showings, which should be quieter (and, indeed, shouldn't be sold out, as the prime time showings of Dark Knight probably will be). I dislike crowded cinemas.

Re: What pissed you off today
A guy who I liked who was "not ready for a relationship" is now seeing someone. Why can't guys be honest and say "I don't like you in that way" makes life easier really. I really don't get it. It's genuinely not that difficult, particularly when prefaced with "I'm really fl...

Hancock.
Fun, and cleverer than you might think, but the second half let it down.

Re: What pissed you off today
Went out with my best mate to cheer me up about all my stalker issues. My mate is trendy and does not like my type of music but we went to a rock club anyway. This guy chatted me up, really my type but I take it slow. I do not rush or sleep with a guy when I meet him. Knowing I liked him my best ma...

Re: A free-for-all thread
The Nations application on Facebook. I keep thinking I'm doing the right thing for my country, but I obviously can't run it for shit.... I've noticed that practically any decision anyone makes tends to have pretty unfavourable consequences. My observations so far suggest that the best approach is t...

Re: What pissed you off today
Toothache and lack of decent NHS dentists Depends on where around Leicester you are, and whether you drive, but you could make the trip to my dentist at East Leake. If you get Dr Madahar (he does some private and some NHS), he's really good - plus that practice seems to have a permanent shortage of...

Re: What pissed you off today
If there's already a line present then they simply reconnect it Unless, like us, you have a line it is connected to BT etc, but inexplicably just dangles down the back wall of the house rather than going inside. In that situation, they charge you the price for a whole new line even though you're no...

Re: What pissed you off today
£175 including a credit check fee to get a phone line installed in the flat. Robbing BT bastards. Jesus. Five years ago it was £90, and I thought that was too much. And they charge you the full price even if there's already a line there and they just have to put it through two inches of wall. They'...

Wrong but funny.
Going to San Francisco on thursday, to meet a load of people I've known online for years and years. It's finally starting to feel real.

Re: What pissed you off today
Packing. I hate packing. I don't mean holiday packing, I mean moving house packing.
Still, it's better than unpacking (still to come). I'd rather cram stuff into boxes than extract it from the boxes and make it tidy.

Re: What has made you happy today
Having a damn good guffaw at someone else's expense. Having the people on my bus home gang up on a rowdy, violent chav and throwing him off a couple of miles from civilisation in either direction. Nice. In all honesty, kicking someone off for looking like a chav would make us no better t...
