Re: Next Announcement

I'm a bit of a stat nerd, so far my average rating of the bands I've listened to is 5.9/10. That breaks down to: - 10 bands I'll actively avoid (rated <5) - 12 I'll stop to watch if I'm not in a rush to get somewhere else (rated 5-6) - 17 which I'll actively try to see (rated 7-8) - 2 which I'm guar...

Re: Bands that got away... so far.

I've never actually seen Devin Townsend live yet, despite being in attendance at two Bloodstocks that he was playing at. I can't remember what the reason was the first time (I think he clashed with someone else), but the year after I was determined to see him but ended up overdoing it on the homebre...

Re: Advice for first timers

I wouldn't worry about the campsites being full. They didn't get anywhere close to that for the past couple of years. You'll be able to see into the Valhalla and Asgard camps as you queue to get into the festival, so you'll be able to gauge whether there's enough space in those for your group. If th...

Re: Advice for first timers

How much is beer and food generally?(and tabs!) I can't comment on the beer, and I don't think tabs are a thing, but food prices vary from stall to stall. Expect to pay between £5 and £10 for most stuff. What to expect from the main arena and campgrounds? Not sure what you're asking here, but here'...

Re: worst band on the lineup ?

It's early days for me, as I've only just started listening to RockSoc playlist and rating the bands based on my tastes, but what the actual fuck are Skindred? :hurl:

Re: Next Announcement

Moonsorrow are playing Rockharz Open Air (Germany) early July, and Månegarm Open Air (Sweden) late August, which leaves a neat little hole in their festival schedule... :eyes:

Re: Next Announcement

I also lurk unless there's something I particularly want to say.

It's worth noting that there's usually ~200 "guests" online at any given point, and while some of these will be search engine bots (spiders), some will be lurkers.

The forums are pretty dead right now though.

Re: Next Announcement

King Diamond's vocal quality declining isn't so much of an issue as the fact that voice is like nails down a chalkboard at the best of times. :hurl: As for the announcement: eh, it could've been so much worse. If the choice is either having Priest back so soon vs having someone like Europe or Triviu...

Not to mention they haven't released anything good in over a decade.

Re: Next Announcement

Sisters of Mercy and/or Devin Townsend would be good announcements for me, but as I've said before, I doubt a Rock band that peaked in the late 80s/early 90s and hasn't released anything new since is hardly headliner material.

You could make the same arguments about elections. Especially with the shitty system we have where tactical voting is actively encouraged.

Might be worth doing the Glasgow date just to see Scenes. Don't think I'd stick around for the second half if they're mostly doing their new shite.
