Re: The Wrestling Thread

Until the wrestlers acknowledge the idiots and stop wrestling rather than ignoring or even worse playing up to them you'll not make much progress on the idiots. I actually think wrestlers should go down this route a lot more. Obviously in WWE they can't really confront fans directly due to the PG n...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Best tournament in my lifetime from start to finish.

To the surprise of many I actually wouldn't have minded England winning this. What's good for the English league system will inevitably be good for both Irish national teams, but also because it would've pissed off all the right people.

Re: The Wrestling Thread

I figured that's what you meant, but I can't help but take the piss out of people who say Meltzer only rates Omega/New Japan matches highly. He's given nine 5 or 5+ ratings this year and three of them were for NXT matches.

Re: The Wrestling Thread

Anybody seen Cody vs Omega? From the sounds of it sounds like a meltzer 5* match (he has been pretty generous with his ratings as of late). I've downloaded the G1 Special today so gonna watch it tomorrow, even though I already know a little about the post-match shenanigans :) Meltzer probably did g...

Re: The Wrestling Thread

I had tickets for both but couldn't go in the end. Going to try and make up for it with PROGRESS at Wembley though.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Living within our means? You're forgeting United have a gross revenue of over half a billion a year. £87m is a drop in the ocean for us. We can afford to be flippant with transfers, though I admit the club's made far too many mistakes in the transfer window in recent years and that's something that'...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

If your just looking at the silverware they've won then Alan Shearer and Matt Le Tissier are some of the worst players in history. As I said earlier, silverware is the only reasonable measurement of a team's success. An individual player's skill level is a completely different discussion. It's also...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I did say in my prior post I was referring to recent years. The most recent player out of all the ones you've mentioned left 9 years ago. Since then Utd have blown that perception of themselves out of the water, and that's not just me trying to score points here I actually had more to write in that...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Very well done to Liverpool. I would've liked to see that game run at 4-2 for the last 10 minutes just for some drama but they deserved the win as narrow as it was. Two very entertaining semi-finals in a very entertaining Champions League season. I think we could be in for a very high-scoring final ...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

And United buying trophies? Not a chance. Early 90's, beat Barcelona for the Cup Winners Cup with a team of aging ex-academy talents and players bought from the liked of Oldham and Norwich. Dominated the league and cup for the rest of the decade thanks to one of the best youth teams of all time and ...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

"Easing pressure on the team"

The manager's job is to put pressure on the players to succeed. If this was indeed the case then it's just more pathetic carry on to go along with Spurs participation medal attitude.

Vorm is good, Lloris is world class. Simple as that.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I hate the fact that some football fans consider finishing 4th in the league to be better than winning the FA Cup. Sure it'll make your club more money but as a fan, what will you remember in years to come? What will be written in the history books? "Sit down my grandson. Let me tell you about...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Silverware is the only reasonable measure of success in football. Without it a club are perennial failures I couldn't disagree more strongly. Top 4 is so much more important than the FA Cup now, it's not even something that should be up for consideration. Of course I'd have liked to get to the fina...

It also wasn't won with Caesar telling his armies "this isn't a must-win battle."

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

What do you mean "challenged so successfully?" Their challenge for the title was unsuccessful. That's the whole point of this discussion
