Re: 2021 Bands Ranking List

For me the big draws are Mercyful Fate, Sacred Reich, Dark Tranquillity (although they've gone through some pretty big line up changes in the last few years), Acid Reign, Gloryhammer and Vio-lence (although some of their politics have put me off them of late) and Saxon. I'd watch Priest but it's not...

Re: 2021 Bands Ranking List

Sacred Reich - It's all about that album I owned in the mid 90s, Heal. Christ, really? That album was bloody awful, check out their early stuff! There's pretty much no way they'll play anything off of Heal, it'll all be from Ignorance, Surf Nicaragua and The American Way with a sprinkling of stuff ...

Re: Next Announcement

Quite interested in going now they've booked Mercyful Fate, particularly seeing as how they seem to have dropped off the Wacken line up for 2021 (which I have a ticket for). There are at least three main stage bands each day I'm interested in seeing at BOA this year (Fri: Dark Tranquillity, Sacred R...

Re: Next Announcement

Usual laughable requests on Facebook. A few people have already said, without any hint of sarcasm, that they hope it's Maiden, Ozzy or Rammstein

Re: Next Announcement

I can't see how this will work for metal bands. I've watched a few live streams from the likes of Frank Turner and Levellers singer Mark Chadwick, where they sit with an acoustic guitar in their front room, banter and sing songs. But a metal band...I can't see it. Even if they play from a stage or s...

Re: 2020 Albums

In Flames' re-recording of Clayman is horrible. Just sounds weak and bland plus Anders has used his awful new vocal style on it. He and Bjorn are the only two left from the original album...the band died for me when Jesper left. Pretty much everything they've done since has been arse.

Re: Next Announcement

I know, but it took them something like 25 years to get round to that sort of tour so I'm considering that to be an anomaly rather than anything regular. Wasn't one of the indoor Bloodstocks their first ever UK show? That took them about 15 years to get round to doing. Because both Blind Guardian a...

Re: Manowar European Tour 2021 (No UK dates)

They've since claimed the 'Final Battle' tour was never meant to imply they were splitting up but based on an album called 'The Final Battle', of which one EP has been released so far, entitled The Final Battle Part One. I paid over a hundred quid to see them last year, thinking that it would be my ...

Black Wizard wrote:I'll be happy for Blind Guardian to return. They have a new album on the way so I suppose they'll do their token one UK show in London or at Bloodstock.

The last time Blind Guardian toured the UK they also played Nottingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

Re: 2020 Albums

Shit Boat (No Fans) made me laugh on first listen but it loses it appeal after that. It's only a minute or so long though! The rest of the album is typical Alestorm, infectious, catchy songs that are great fun/extremely annoying (delete as applicable, they seem a very divisive band! It's the former ...

I'm amazed that bands are booking tours for this year still although I guess they have to remain optimistic.

Re: Next Announcement

Metal Days even raised this in relation to possible refunds for tickets in the event of cancellation. Since it has now been cancelled I'm not sure if they're sticking to this or not, no announcements have been made, but obviously it went down like a lead balloon. 'Every ticket buyer accepted our T&a...

I'm no expert but I think some of the problems with insurance would be that they don't cover pandemics? It's one of those things which appear in the small print alongside 'acts of God' that people just presume will never actually happen.

Re: 2020 Albums

Yeah I'm liking that Myrkur record a lot, which was unexpected because I wasn't taken with her first one. Might have to go back and revisit it, don't think I ever gave the second one a listen. The second one was a huge leap forward for me. I loved it but wasn't particularly taken with the first eit...
