Re: Next Announcement

I like Priest but I just can't get excited about seeing them without either KK or Tipton. It's as if the heart has been ripped out of them, like Maiden carrying on without Murray and Harris. Behemoth I can take or leave too. After a good start it's gone a bit pear shaped for me again, only Sacred Re...

Re: 2019 Albums

The new Alcest is brilliant, somewhat predictably. I like the new Mayhem and Nile too although it's questionable whether they'll maintain my interest for long. Spotify is great btw. Ten quid a month for access to virtually everything ever in good quality (indeed, perfectly good quality for most peop...

Re: Razor - Debut UK Show

I always thought Razor were second tier thrash but they're one of the few thrash acts I've never seen and they certainly have enough decent songs to play a good set. If it had been a Saturday I think I'd have travelled for it just to tick them off but I don't think I can be arsed with taking a day o...

Re: 2019 Albums

Warcrab - Damned In Endless Night Doomy OSDM. Reminds me of Heartwork era Carcass and Bolt Thrower in places. I know most of Warcrab very well and year, they're huge fans of that sort of stuff. I could be accused of bias, being that they're mates of mine, but their new album is huge. I always thoug...

Yep, it's really good, much better than I was expecting it to be.

Re: Rate The Bands - Results!

Yeah Motorhead were definitely the worst. Slayer were great both times and Ghost were fantastic.

Rate The Bands - Results!

I didn't go this year but I always do this so why stop now. Here are the results of the band peformance rating thread, average scores, only bands that received at least 5 votes counted. A runaway winner this year! 1. Eluveitie - 9.6 2. Dee Snider - 8.78 3. Anthrax - 8.74 4. Ross the Boss - 8.47 5. G...

Re: 2019 Albums

You're back! Just in time to organize the top 20 albums of the year  I'm honoured to have been missed  I didn't go to Bloodstock this year so kind of drifted away from the forum...sure it's been no more than a couple of months though. I'm going to struggle to come up with 20 metal albums ...

The suggestion that Lamb of God could be broadly considered as the greatest metal band of all time is...staggering.

Re: 2019 Albums

My favourite metal albums this year so far are Sabaton, Sacred Reich and Atlantean Kodex. The Gloryhammer is good fun too. I'm finding myself extremely tired of death and black metal nowadays, just can't get excited by anything new. I don't think it's been a great year for metal tbh, most of my favo...

Re: Sabaton 2020

It's a shame that Sabaton aren't doing massive UK tours anymore, saw them locally a few years back in a venue which holds 500...but the bigger a band get, the bigger their productions and stage shows get too, if you want that full experience then this is inevitable. Sabaton are probably in that inbe...

Re: Next Announcement

I imagine that Manowar are right out of contention already now ? They've never been in contention, their demands are way beyond what Bloodstock could afford or even want to bow down to. From Simon Hall's social media posts it's reasonable to presume the two have spoken before but got nowhere near a...

Re: 2019 Albums

According to my RYM account, I'm up to 98 albums released in 2019 so far. My loose top 25 (to be reviewed at the end of the year) is currently - Lots I haven't heard there, which gives me stuff to check out as I've been struggling to get excited about much this year. I didn't like Soen or Devin and...

Re: Next Announcement

But you could put it the other way. Which band has songs that people know? I would probably know all of Metal Churches songs but wouldn't know one of Tesseract's. Would Rainbow headline? They've not released an album since the year dot. When was the last album anyone bought by the Scorpions? I have...
