Re: What made you Lol Today?
I am currently writing a review for a band called Magic Kingdom. They describe themselves as "symphonic epic speed metal". It's like the love-child of Rhapsody and Sonata Arctica on crack. I'm not sure if I can stand music this ridiculous. I went straight to their myspace expecting instan...

Re: What pissed you off today
Third unsuccessful job interview.
I'm starting to wonder what two years professional experience and a masters degree is worth when I'm only applying for entry-level stuff. Maybe I am just that hopeless. Blergh.

Re: What has made you happy today
Finding out the job interview today was actually for three jobs. I am now a lot more confident.
Also, I finally feel on top of this dissertation. About time with two weeks to go.

Haven't seen this reported yet? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1328703/Remembrance-Day-Poppy-burning-Muslim-protesters-mar-Armistice-Day.html It would be t...

Re: What pissed you off today
It's meaningless if it is mandatory. Being pressured into doing something just because everyone else is doing it is no different to not doing it at all. Sure, organise yourselves so it happens at the same time, but the point is to take some of your own personal time to show respect and remembrance, ...

I'm almost certain that can't happen. You agree to a set fee at the beginning of your course. You pay in yearly instalments, but you're still paying towards the overall thing. The only change your fee is subject to is inflation.
It should only affect students starting in 2012 and afterwards.

Re: A free-for-all thread
I want to do another masters in Political Media so I can write a dissertation about how the supposed threat from within to the American nation is represented in science fiction. You want to do another dissertation? Are you mad ? ...he wrote while neck deep in journal articles and notepaper. A mere ...

Re: What pissed you off today
This reminds me of the "two for one £1" sign someone has made at work. I swear people don't even look at what they've made before they print it off in that place.
I might start asking the customers for one one pound.

Re: What pissed you off today
My first job rejection. Fucking yay :( You'd be lucky to get the first one you go for. I've been turned away by three now, two after interview. I'm starting to realise what a superficial load of bollocks the job application process is. It's all about telling them what they want to hear in a way the...

Re: What made you Lol Today?
Generally if you distribute copyrighted material to an indefinite number of people over the internet with no permission from the rights owner, then yeah, that's an infringement. Non-profit only really applies for personal use. Read the back of any CD and it'll say something along the lines of ...

Re: What made you Lol Today?
People who put "I do not own this song" in YouTube video descriptions. "No copyright infringement intended" amuses me more. Any variation of the piss-weak copyright cop-out is pretty amusing to be fair. :P The thing is, its no more a legal cop out than leaving a note in someone'...

Being told all successful and unsuccessful applicants would be contacted today at my job interview yesterday. Spent all day waiting for a phonecall that never came.

I had to do a bank wire last year. It's a bit worrying to send money that way but it all worked out okay.
