Re: What pissed you off today
Contracts are re-negotiated all the time. Indeed. In fact what is happening now to public sector pensions happened to the majority of final salary schemes in the private sector some time ago. They turned out to be unaffordable, and employees got the option of a new contract with a worse scheme or f...

Re: What pissed you off today
Because many people went into the public sector under the contract that they would be given that pension, whereas the people in the private sector chose to take that route and therefore agreed to partially contribute through the tax system already I must have missed that meeting, as I don't think I...

Re: What pissed you off today
However, some private sector banks, were still bailed out by taxpayer's money, such as Lloyds' £20bn bailout, and due to this it's unfair that the public sector workers should be losing money because of a private sector bank's problems My memory of events is hazy, but didn't Lloyds end up needing a...

Lucked out and got a free ticket to http://developerdeveloperdeveloper.com/gulon2/ * due to the change of venue. So not only do I not have to go to the office tomorrow, there is real danger I might actually learn something** for the first time in about 3 years in this job. They may even be free beer...

Re: What pissed you off today
I sympathise. In the grand scheme of things Kim and I had it fairly easy with the parents in the end, at least from an interference point of view. What I will add is that for us some things that seemed terribly important beforehand ended up hardly mattering on the day, and any 'vigorous discussions'...

Re: What pissed you off today
I spent hours trying to work out why my Java program wasn't working a few weeks ago, and gave up in the end at 6AM. Today I had it assessed and found out that it was all because of a horrendously basic error that I really, really should've spotted. Happens to all of us. Twice to me this morning in ...
