Re: 2020 Albums

Heathen's new album 'Empire of the Blind' is cracking. Some good old school Thrash with bits of very cool lead guitar.

Beast in Black, December 2021

I just got a notification from Bandsintown that they have a show at the end of next year. It's part of a wider European tour: https://beastinblack.com/tour.php

1/12/2021 Islington Assembly Hall

Surely we can have gigs again at the end of next year.

Ah, I forgot that the first Monday of May is a Bank Holiday! Thanks for reminding me, I'll stick with the Wembley show now and stay in bed until mid-afternoon on Monday.

Re: Nightwish UK Tour

Wasn't there a Cardiff show originally? This is slightly awkward for me as I don't like coming home from London on a Sunday night and I really don't like the journey back from Wembley. I'll see if I can offload my ticket and go to the Birmingham show instead. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets pos...

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

human impatience is bound to give in sooner than later. I've been thinking the same sort of thing. Social distancing will end when enough people have stopped complying with it. I've already noticed when walking about that many people aren't trying to keep any sort of distance from each other and so...

Re: worst band on the lineup ?

Got to be Phil, not only is he an utter racist cunt but he's playing a Pantera set despite not being a founding member, To be fair, they were a Glam band before he joined. Apparently he was briefly involved with Exhorder and suggested to the rest of Pantera that they go for that instead. I don't th...

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

The Arena one is interesting, if you assume that Arena's won't be able to open til June does that mean anything with large crowds is the same, specifically football grounds? Will we have a full football season played behind closed doors? Well non-league football matches in England will be permitted...

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

I reckon we'll have a phased return of gigs without social distancing. Perhaps tiny venues like the Camden Underworld will be allowed to host events in March if winter goes well, with larger venues opening again in May then June for arenas and festivals.

Re: Nu Power Metal

Gloryhammer are very melodic and symphonic, so not a million miles away from the likes of Rhapsod yand Blind Guardian in terms of sound, and especially in regard to having ridiculous concepts and stories behind the music Rhapsody are exactly the sort of band whom Gloryhammer are parodying. Blind Gu...

That's probably part of the act. They're a Christopher Bowes creation, and that man is clearly insane.

Gloryhammer are a parody of Power Metal bands with OTT multi-album stories and cheesiness. They have also surpassed the bands whom they are parodying.

It's nice to see some positivity here. I don't care for Mercyful Fate at all so definitely won't be going to Bloodstock 2021 in any capacity. I'm glad some of you guys are happy though.

Re: Next Announcement

Eugh Architects would be even worse than Parkway. Plus after ticket sales bombed in '19, would they risk another 'core headliner? They're definitely the sort of band that Vicky would be excited to announce as headliner. They're awful though. Killswitch Engage might be a candidate. I do like them, b...

Re: Next Announcement

Took a little peek at the Wacken Lineup, feel like As I Lay Dying are a strong possibility if it's not Down. Surely they're not close to being big enough. I stopped following them after Tim Lambesis tried to have his wife killed (although still listen to the pre-crazy phase music) but they surely c...

Re: Next Announcement

How big are Avatar here? I only know them from supporting Halestorm in Academies a couple of years ago. They don't seem to have made waves here.
