Re: Download Festival 2020

Do Maiden normally demand that nobody else is playing at the same time they are? At festivals I wouldn't usually bother to pay attention to who else might be on at the same time as Maiden. I don't think so, they've played Hellfest twice, and both teams bands have been other stages. Odd they're stil...

I was listening to their first album yesterday whilst running, I desperately want to hate this band, but I can't cos that album is so much fun. Looks like I'll have to acquire the new one too then :ugh:

Re: Next Announcement

Gloryhammer played Heaven which is only a thousand yet Chris' other band Alestorm played larger venues yet got the same spot. Just don't see how Gloryhammer are on the same level. Alestorm could realistically have been special guests - if Paradise Lost, Saxon, Powerwolf, At The Gates and Kreator ca...

Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Love both Dimmu and Amorphis. Tales is one of my favourite albums ever. I think Amorphis played as many as 3 songs from it (Thousand Lakes including). Dimmu were great IMO. Amorphis were beyond awesome. You would appear to be right, forgot they played Into Hiding as well as Black Winter Day at the ...

Re: worst band on the lineup ?

I like Gloryhammer because their music is very good, I don't come from Scotland and I find their lyrics concepts silly, but neither is of any consequence to me, as the music is so strong. Same with black metal, most BM bands have the BM image and I'm not bothered about the image (although I do find ...

Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Last Dimmu Borgir/Amorphis/Wolves In The Throne Room at the Forum last night. WITTR were good, love the music, just find the "don't say a word to the crowd" stance a bit tedious sometimes. Amophis were fantastic, setlist focusing mainly on the newer stuff, but we still got once song each f...

From his mannerism/movement/speech, I thought years ago that he had Parkinsons.

Re: Bands Changing Musical Style

One of the worst were The Almighty - jumped on every bandwagon going (glam, biker rock, grunge) before trying to go 'punk' on Crank declaring that they never listened to hard rock, and ditched all the tunes bar a couple. Funny that they thought being released the same week as REM would stop them ge...

Re: Next Announcement

Think the problem with Winterfylleth is that they play regularly and will probably take a prominent spot instead of someone fresher. My biggest problem with the line up is placements really. So many bands appear to have been pushed up for a reason other than budgetary that I can see. I don't like G...

Re: Next Announcement

So why are you bothering if you hate the line up so much then? When did I say I was bothering? I'm not bothering, I attended every Bloodstock up to 2017, but eventually my loyalty waned as the line ups got worse and worse, and after that I discovered the awesome Brutal Assault festival which is on ...

Re: Next Announcement

I like the headliners still, but that is, for me, the weakest undercard they have had. I don't even like the headliners, Devin I've never understood the appeal, Behemoth I like but they play everywhere so a headline performance by them hardly makes me buy a ticket, and Priest I like but nothing mor...

Re: worst band on the lineup ?

For the festival, Bury Tomorrow. Why were these booked, especially as a top 3 band? They are passed their glory days anyway, and were never that good, but top 3? With so many other similar bands who are these for? Definitely don't fit on a 20th anniversary bill. That band had glory days?! Chart wis...
