Re: Advice for first timers

To those saying about the cold, there's also the possibility of spending more on the tent itself. I forget what model mine is, but its got a special material in its lining that helps regular temperature. It wasn't too hot at Hellfest (high 30s outside, late 10s in my tent) and wasn't too cold at rec...

Re: Next Announcement

Those talking about refund requests for all British bills...

Vicky made it quite clear that tickets bought for 2020/21 would be rolled over to 22, and that anything put as a stop gap in 21 would be its own thing.

Re: Next Announcement

Some great stories from the latest Damnation vs Vicky podcast. Apparently there was a BOA band a few years back... Vicky booked them for an exclusive UK performance. Band came back and wanted to break exclusivity because they had an offer from another fest. Vicky, frustrated, said only if they halve...

Re: Wednesday bands?

Yeah from what I recall, Wednesday becomes 'party night' with 5 bands on the Sophie stage. On the Thursday we get a full day of music on the Sophie, Hobgoblin and Jaeger stages, then Fri-Sun as normal.

Re: Next Announcement

Whilst I think Bloodstock has the best chance of any UK summer festival, I do think its less than a 50/50 chance it goes ahead. It may be possible to vaccinate everyone with their first shot by then - that gives something like 50-60% protection (better than the winter flu jab does, and its a good %,...

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

Well, the current UK lockdown is due to last through March as it stands. Even if we return to the tier system as before, we aren't getting normal gigs for a good while.

Re: 2021 albums

Frozen Soul - Crypt of Ice is a good old school death metal release. Yeah, that was decent! Best things I've heard so far this year are probably a couple of EPs: "Alles still" by Nachtreich and "The Child That Never Came Back" by Umbria. The former is a mix of neo-classical dark...

Re: The Special Song Request Thread (and why)

No idea if the requests set is going ahead, though Devin did do a special lockdown show that was specifically the Bloodstock setlist. It was: Velvet Kevorkian (Strapping Young Lad song) All Hail the New Flesh (Strapping Young Lad song) By Your Command Almost Again (Strapping Young Lad song) Juular (...

Not hugely surprised; always seemed a bit of a far right loon whenever he spoke about politics.

Agreed on them throwing the book at him (and everyone else there).

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

No way anything happens as early as May. The current lockdown is expected til March as it stands and people will almost certainly not be vaccinated until later in the Summer.

Re: Guess what date gigs will be back to normal (no social distancing)

Festival wise, I think BOA has a slim chance this year but I can't see anything prior to it happening. Of all the main UK fests, Damnation might have the best chance of anyone in 2021. I do think that Spring 2022 will see a lot of things go back to 'normal'. Everyone should be long since vaccinated ...

Re: 2021 albums

I haven't looked ahead much to what's coming out. However, I have already listened to a dozen or so albums that have been released this week.

Not much to shout about so far, though was pleasantly surprised by "Womb" by Juan Bond. Sort of Mathcore / Prog Metal / Avant-Garde Metal.
