I'll always remember him for his creepy portral of Ash in Alien. Terrific actor.

Re: The Meaning of Metal

Metal (at least in the 80's) was never overtly political but they did represent from time to time at things like the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. I always had a feeling most metal heads were a fairly inclusive bunch and we did have popular bands like Bad Brains and Living Colour. Plus of course ...

Re: 2020 Albums

Power Trip have released an official Live album. It's good quality and captures their....erm....power. This seems to be a thing a lot of bands have been doing to make some much needed cash during these Corona hit hard times. Archgoat have released a career spanning one as well. Surprisingly the sou...

Yeah agreed. The two day thing is a pain in the ass for those of us who live out of the city. I'll seriously consider the Saturday though if the splits work out well.

Ghost wrote:Good week for death metal. Enjoyed the new releases by Centinex, Xibalba and Sodomisery.

Really enjoying that Sodomisery album btw. With a name like that, I expected them to be a lot more brutal but they're actually fairly mid-tempo and melodic. They remind me a lot of Oden era Amarth.

My interest in ever seeing them ended when I listened to a couple of their albums back in the 80's.

Re: Strategy Board Games

Anyone into strategy board games? My wife and I have played them for years but always put off by some prices. Considering I'm not going out anywhere though I've bought some of the more expensive ones recently. I've bought: Memoir 44 Brass Birmingham Scythe 7 wonders duel Spirit Island I'd love to b...

Re: 2020 Albums

I've found two more belters in the past couple of weeks:-

Sölicitör – Spectral Devastation
Balls to the wall speed metal in the style of 80's Priest and Maiden.

Black Curse - Endless Wound
Putrid sounding death metal in the style of stuff like Autopsy.

Re: 2020 Albums

Barashi's new album Old Smoke sounds good. Black Metal with slow groovy guitar riffs. Would you call that black metal? It sounds fairly proggy to me and I can definitely hear some Mastodon influence. I like it though. It's a good day for new releases as I'm absolutely gob smacked by the new Ulcerat...

The new Ripped to Shreds album is very listenable and the new Ulcerate is out on Friday. The new season of Better Call Saul is excellent.

Other than that, I've just been watching old movies for the past few weeks.
