That's all.

Looking at how other people enjoy music, metal has always been more than that for me, even now, as I hit middle age.

Still, it's relatively apolitical as a whole entity. Political aspects in metal are the exception rather than the rule.

I will see what their offering but I can't imagine it's gonna be particularly earth shaking stuff.

I've never really listened to Vandenberg, but I've heard of them. Whats the best place to start? Internet say the S/T.

Re: 2020 Albums

New Paradise Lost is fantastic. I've enjoyed all their albums to a degree, but this new one has that special feeling that has been lacking since the 90's. A tentative shout for album of the year imo.

Re: Next Announcement

These suggestions are hardly like for like to replace Behemoth. Dimmu would be much closer in style, if you're talking about previous sub headline acts stepping up.

Re: 2020 Albums

I'm a bit late with this, because I got the record late, but never mind. The new Nightwish isn't quite working for me, which is a shame. There is some interesting stuff and big ideas, pushing things further than before, but it's leaving me rather cold. The song 'Harvest' is also a total turd, it kil...

Re: The Meaning of Metal

Just to go a bit more abstract: years ago, I read a quote attributed to the guy from Sarcófago, who said, "Metal is a spiritual protest.` This was discussed as a contrast to punks political protest. I thought it was a really good way of encapsulating it, regarding metals purpose for the listene...
