Re: Coronavirus

Since the counting began, the new coronovirus has increased the normal number of deaths (1,643 per day) in the UK by about 0.9%, and that's assuming it was the main factor in all the deaths attributed to it. The increase for Italy is, very approximately, 12.8%. One of the big issues in Italy is tha...

Re: Coronavirus

Mike Portnoy put a response up regarding the cancellation of the Sons of Apollo dates - essentially saying that they will take a hit on this, but if they all get to Europe and dates are pulled by promoters etc they will lose a 6-figure sum so can't take the risk. The problem with this (and most H&am...

Reed Mullins of Corrosion of Conformity - passed away at 53. Longstanding problems by the looks, couldn't make the flight when they last played BoA but gave the band a great groove when he was on form

Re: movies

Was bored this morning so went to the early showing of Knives Out - great cast, Danial Craig with a Louisana drawl was odd but his Columbo esque detective was fun. Hopefully there will be another one with him. Looking at the end if year lists, found a Swedish sci fi called Aniara about a doomed spac...

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)

Freedom of Movement isn't as unrestricted as the right-wing media suggest (or at least, it doesn't have to be): https://ukandeu.ac.uk/we-can-control-eu-migration-we-just-havent-done-it/ There is one section (article 8) of the EU Human Rights Law signed away by Brown in the Lisbon Treaty that gives ...

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)

Quite - over 3 months and EU residents have to register where criminal records can be searched. We can do it on entry as well after regs were tightened up after the Paris attacks. We booted out nearly 4000 EU nationals last year. We had access to databases and a Europe wide arrest warrant system but...

Not sure, but I think it happened to Tommy Bolin in Deep Purple while on heroin, where he damaged his nerves and could only play barre chords

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)

especially as the EU do not think that, for example, a convicted rapist should be denied free-movement http://immigration-appeals.icslegal.com/2016-03-02/law-abiding-rapist-let-back-into-britain-because-it-would-break-eu-law-to-deport-him-to-romania/ Did you just swallow the headline without burpin...

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)

There could be issues with import duties and tax on goods, which would include bands merch. Bands would have paperwork.on all their gear and t-shirts etc, then account for sales to pay tax at the border. I was chatting to the German CD stall boss, and he said Norway is fairly easy, you do a sales pr...

Re: The Health 'n' Fitness Thread

I've been getting tingling in my left arm and hand when I move my head back. It looks like it could be a trapped nerve or slipped disk. I don't know whether to go to the doctor or not, because I just don't like doing. Anyone else had this? Yes - mainly in the first two fingers and thumb and occasio...

Mac Rebennack - aka Dr John - part of the 'wrecking crew' group of musicians who played sessions on countless of singles in the 60s before inventing the 'Dr John' character from old voodoo tales and playing strange mix of psychedelia, voodoo and rnb, he ended up on albums by Rolling Stones, Zappa, T...
