Re: The Book thread
I've read Weaveworld, excellent book. I've not read Imajica yet, I'm planning to read Everville after The Great And Secret Show as I believe it's the sequel to TGASS. Everville's pretty decent as well (and I think he's writing a 3rd), as is Sacrament (a bit odd, but worth sticking with). Galilee an...

Fantastic book, if you like it and haven't already read them, I recommend Weaveworld and Imajica as well.

Re: The Book thread
Currently rocking this bad motherfucker: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51CVR5XT01L._SS500_.jpg Be prepared for a nosedive in quality in the later books Oh god. By book 4 maybe I was loosing the will to live. I'm still not entirely sure what possessed me to carry on reading the entire series...

Really want to get this, but only on book 2 of the series, & I believe they start to go downhill in the later books. Would it be cheating too much to skip books 3 to 11?

Re: The Book thread
can anyone recommend a sci-fi/fantasy book with a decent enough twist to it, i.e. not just typically sci-fi/fantasy, preferably not 800 pages long and part of an epic 27 piece saga or something, preferably just a stand alone/trilogy? Both are pretty long but at least not part of a series, and they ...

Re: The Book thread
Poppy Z. Brite is a beautiful writer. I can literally just sit there and read her books all in one go. In particular a book by her called "Exquisite Corpse" which is just as dark as it sounds but an excellant read if you're into your dark horror with a hint of erotica. Exquisite Corpse is...

Re: What pissed you off today
Not packing for Bloodstock as I couldn't find anyone to go with and I hated the idea of going on my own. I've got things planned for the weekend but none involve watching Dimmu Borgir. :( Ditto. I feel like crying. literally. Glad I'm not the only one, but it sucks for us. I couldn't go this time f...

Went to the tiny WHSmith by our work, they didn't have Terrorizer and fancied a lunchtime read, it was between Heat and Metal Hammer, foolishly I picked Metal Hammer. The reviews of Amorphis album and of Wacken made me very, very angry. Especially the Wacken review, they missed out most of the bands...

Love a bit of fantasy, esp Tolkein of course, Terry Goodkind (Wizards First Rule and Stone of Tears especially), Terry Pratchett. If you can get hold of it I seriously recommend (if you enjoy humerous fantasy) Craig Shaw Gardner's Ebenezum Trilogy / Ballad of Wuntvor Trilogy, possibly the funniest b...
