Re: The Book thread

I think I'll always prefer Farseer and The Tawny Man to a certain degree (partly just 'cause I <3 the Fool!) but I did really enjoy The Dragon Keeper. Incidentally (on a random note) do you ever find yourself telling the characters in books not to do something even though you know that they're going...

I've heard that said by quite a lot of people... I should probably get round to reading them myself at some point and see if I agree!

Re: The Book thread

Ahhh... epic trilogy, no? The finale is just awesome. Are you continuing with the Robin Hobb once you finish that? I've read the Liveship Traders and loved them, and I have the Dragon Keeper to read too. I'm between Tawny Man and Soldier Son trilogies for what to read after that though - suggestion...

Re: The Book thread

Assassin's Apprentice - Robin Hobb. First time I've read the Farseer books, I've been having extreme difficulty putting them down! :D Good choice :D I had that problem the first time I read them... what was really bad, though, was that we had the 1st 2 of the Farseer Trilogy but not the 3rd and the...

Re: The Book thread

Been reading Charlie Brooker's "Dawn of the Dumb" and for a more historical slant, Michael Burleigh's "The Third Reich." Any got any good fantasy/sci-fi that's worth a read? Mostly on the Fantasy side of things: Robin Hobb - literally any and all of her books. I'd recommend star...

Re: What's freaking you out?

Pound's value is going up ridiculously fast. :eyes: Tuesday it was 1.14, yesterday 1.15, today 1.16 (euro's that is). If it keeps going up like this next month it will be 1.50 again. DO NOT WANT This is actually concerning me a little at the moment... I'd due to get paid about €300-400 at the end o...

I have somewhere to live in Germany for next semester :D Plus, I was predicting that my rent would be up to €300/month and it's actually going to be €156/month. Also, Blue Man Group were awesome (Clare - they're in Zürich until the beginning of May, apparently, so I'm totally up for going to see th...

Disk checking advice... If you have a modern (less than 2 year old) PC or laptop, BIOS' these days tend to detect and report SMART errors just after POST (which server hardware has done for years but is starting to creep into the desktop market). Ahh, see, that's where I'm going wrong... my PC is p...

Heh, don't believe everything you're told! To be fair, it's a pretty common myth that Linux is somehow "immune" to viruses... unfortunately it's just that - a myth. My advice is get yourself a decent antivirus (I personally use AntiVir and am lead to believe that it should run on Linux as...
