Re: Next Announcement

It's not very deep I'm afraid. Since 2015 there have been more bands on that stage that I want to see than the main stage, the band I've been most excited about has been there, and all of the new discoveries I make have been there (with the notable exception of Ghost Bath). Different strokes and al...

Re: Cosmic Void Festival - Camden - 3rd & 4th October

I didn't even notice that and I keep an eye out for it :o What was the name of the Scottish fest that had booked Behemoth and Arch Enemy before it got cancelled? Heavy Scotland? It didn't get cancelled, it went ahead.Though I don't think there's been another one, so presumably it didn't do that wel...

Re: Next Announcement

I don't think they would have any problem emulating BOA at all. I think they would be on BOA's level within 3 years. At which point they'll share the same problems and you'll be back to square one  A lot of the niche festivals can't grow much bigger due to genre limitations anyway, you'd end u...

Can you imagine a HRH open-air fest? Charging circa £100 a ticket for 2 big name bands, a couple of medium-size bands plus a load of no-name filler? Yeah, can see that going down well...

Re: Cosmic Void Festival - Camden - 3rd & 4th October

Don't get why these fests jump right to Underworld and Ballroom rather than start smaller at The Dome/Boston Arms which is only up the road. What kind of lunatic thinks people are gonna pay £100 for a 2 day fest at the underworld with bands like Mysticum and Urfaust? They must be planning someone RE...

Re: Next Announcement

but the rest of the lineup feels like the filler you'd find on a HRH event, or bands Download couldn't find room for. The niche festivals have caught up and Bloodstock has sleepwalked into being just another festival. That's pretty much my point, look how many niche festivals there are now and how ...

Re: Next Announcement

Gandalf makes a good point, BOA's either sleepwalked into cornering itself in a busy marketplace or hasn't dominated any corner of the market allowing competition to find a niche. UK Death Fest/Damnation/Incineration- Death/Black. BOA can compete with them by booking the bigger bands (ala Behemoth) ...

Re: Next Announcement

I hope numbers are down at BOA, will send a clear message to the organisers. I doubt it'll be the message you want though, they'd probably look at the figures, place it in a historical context, look at the competition and say "we need to go more DL". Short of a complete disaster (which th...

Re: 2020 Albums

I haven't found any good 2020 albums yet but I'm discovering a few I missed in 2019. Early days yet but January has mostly been a slow month anyway. -Hazzerd's new album is an alright listen but little replay value - Annihilator's new album doesn't quite hit the highs as FTD did but still a solid e...

Re: Next Announcement

Gloryhammer probably aren't as big, but they rammed out Heaven and could have easily played a larger venue. Compared to the other bands this year in the 3rd slot, the justify the position, with Phil Anselmo playing the underworld last time he was here. Oh I'm not knocking them, just strikes me as o...

Re: Next Announcement

tbf Gloryhammer were probably too low down in 2016. In terms of power metal they're one of the bigger draws out there, easily sound out a good sized venue in London before Xmas, and there last album got to no.6 in Germany, plus they'd be very popular with the BOA crowd. Also the Sophie headliners s...
