Re: Next Announcement

Seem like a bunch of spoilt little rich kids trying to be edgy to me... As for politics at gigs and festivals, keep it at home unless it's that kind of festival or gig. If I went to Glastonbury or a Billy Bragg gig I expect it. I don't expect politics at a Heavy Metal festival. Songs about nuclear ...

Re: Next Announcement

Architects are a lot like Parkway Drive I think. The kind of Metal band that NME likes and can get mainstage slots at Reading/Leeds festivals. I saw them at Reading Festival a couple of years ago. They were fine but I'm not interested in their music and they'd be a shit Bloodstock headliner. The wo...

Re: Themed stages

As most of the above, BOA isn't really the right size at this stage. I could see something like it working at Download though. I think Download is kinda heading in that direction already. They have now made the 3rd stage the 'Avalanche' stage which is full of pop punk and emo bands. They've also st...

Re: Next Announcement

I know they're divisive but I wouldn't be surprised if we get Ghost again. I think sooner or later they'll become too big for Bloodstock so wouldn't surprise me if they wanted to get them in one last time before that happens

Re: Next Announcement

Def Leppard who are headling Download this year? Parkway Drive played there last year. And it would fit the bill for a Sunday Classic headliner like The Scorpions. PD only headlined second stage to be fair, whereas Def Lep are main headliner this year. So absolutely no chance they'll play BOA. Stil...

Re: Next Announcement

My god, what an awful article. Surely he's on the wind up? If not he seems like an arrogant self righteous prick, looking down on anyone who wants to keep mainstream pop out of metal. The smug comment about the new Bodom album coming out for all of us neanderthals is particularly infuriating

RhysyG wrote:Assuming there’s 3 slots left for the RJD stage then. I’m hoping Sacred Reich, Nile and Saxon

Unfortunately, I think 2 of those slots are stage openers so they'll probably be bands we've never heard of

Re: Next Announcement

Aborted wouldn't be my first choice for the genre, but good to see some death metal on the main stage at last. Out of the others I've only listened to Dust Bolt who are definitely on the watch list, so really happy with that. Will have to listen to the rest before making judgement

Re: Next Announcement

Did anyone catch the live Q&A last night? If so, were there any important bits we need to know about?

Re: Next Announcement

No one's been announced as actually opening Saturday have they? Finnish prog doomsters, SWALLOW THE SUN grab themselves an early main stage spot on Saturday. That's what I thought. I reckon in terms of mainstage, all we have left is second band on for the Friday, opener for the Saturday and then bo...

Re: Next Announcement

I get the feeling Thy Art is Murder are supposed to fill the death metal void this year - and Hypocrisy I guess. I can't say I really miss it as I hate death metal, but that Saturday is just too filled with boring, bland bullshit. I hope Swallow the Sun are opening so I can fuck off somewhere else ...

Re: Next Announcement

Same for folk metal, there's always a lack of that too! There used to be many but now they are very few, if at all... There's 3 melodeath bands if that counts as death metal  EDIT: I would love all 4 of those bands to be at BS ! Yeah I forgot about the 3 melodeath bands (strange considering I'...

Re: Next Announcement

I was really hoping for some Death Metal in this announcement. Something like Unleashed, Jungle Rot, Obscura or Rivers of Rihil would've be great in the slot that Raging Speedhorn took. In fact, the whole lineup is severely lacking in Death so far. It isn't my favourite subgenre and I don't usually ...

Re: Next Announcement

They really don't give a shit any more do they? After one of the worst received announcements ever, instead of doing an announcement of bands that the regulars might actually like they add...Cancer Bats. I remember a conversation with a mate around 6/7 years ago, after they added Hatebreed, and I w...
