Re: Next Announcement

Got a feeling Slayer might end up at Download. Parkway Drive Body Count Soulfly Yike! Hopefully not any of those. An evening of bro metal and kerrang rubbish (why would an emoscreamo band like PD get booked for bloodstock ?) does at least mean that they'll book something totally unrelated for the S...

Good news - fun band, good strong setlist live, crowd tend to get into it.

You could work around that by stating that Manowar aren't power metal, they're metal ?

Is it safe to assume a Dimmu / Bodom kind of band for Saturday ?

Sonata Arctica

While the last couple of records might not have set the world on fire, they've got a brilliant 'greatest hits' set, & would fit in well on a sunny day / in the tent (and would fill the 'melodic Finnish band' quota for 2019)

Re: Hammerfall

Great suggestion - they've got a long catalogue of good sing-along songs. Beer and power metal is a good combination !

Re: Next Announcement

I'm also not interested in watching Sabaton, I would hope they would be on the Sunday night so I can go home early again. Despite my dislike of them I can, as with Nightwish, see how they would be a good and timely choice for Bloodstock for '19, just hope BS get them on the right day ;) If they put...

Re: Batushka

It'd be hard for someone like that, pretty much 70% gimmick, to follow Watain, I imagine ?

They're fun enough live, might be good for a shorter set earlier on ?

Re: Manowar !

Manowar headline Friday, and open Sunday.

Kings of Metal at 10AM would certainly liven the place up.

Re: Scorpions

Great suggestion - nothing beats a headliner that can command a stadium-sized crowd. That said headliner has songs that can be sung / wailed / drunkenly slurred along to easily enough is always a bonus.

Re: 2019 Bands

Slayer are likely to play either Bloodstock or Download next year. Download may well offer them more money but if it's their last ever UK gig they may prefer the opportunity to go out with a headline slot. Never seen Slayer - I get the impression from this board, and the Metal Archives, that they'r...

Re: BOA 2018 - Rate the Bands You Saw

Emperor-4/10 Black metal played by office staff What the fuck does that even mean??! Emperor were one of the forerunners of the 2nd wave of black metal, pretty much the first ever band to play that sort of atmospheric black metal. Not a bad desciption of how they played - irrespective of their hist...

Wytch Hazel

Trad heavy metal - great guitars, melodies, vocal harmonies, ballad-y numbers, proper heavy rock numbers. They'd be great on a sunny day.

Re: Fozzy and the miming argument.

His mic was definitely quieter than the others - maybe the sound was messed up, rather than him mimimg ? (Unless he's known for that ?) Just thinking of some of the other bands, where the sound was basically DRUMS everything else . Either way, he put in a lot of effort working the crowd - more than ...

Agreed - I ended up buying the last Watain shirt off of the board itself, because they only had small left in stock.
