Re: Themed stages

Not sure how I feel about this Pro - More niche bands on segregated stages, potential to lower the impact of booking hardcore / Slayer headliners on the rest of the lineup. Potential to bring on smaller bands in a genre-specific tent / stage. Con - Effectively segregating crowds for a good portion o...

Re: Next Announcement

Most of the Gregory clan are pretty into lifting. Vicky and Alan have a business selling lifting relate clothes so it is no surprise to see them promoting lifting at Bloodstock. Luckily it is easy to ignore and doesn't get in the way of enjoying the festival. True ! If it keeps a few big lumps out ...

Re: Next Announcement

Oh yeah also, apart from the heavy metal lifting thing its a decent announcement. Nothing too controversial. Would much rather have had the knights back though. The lifting club has never, nor is ever likely to inspire me. If anything its an inconvenience having to skirt around their arena just to ...

Re: Next Announcement

I'm guessing another 3-5 Sophie bands. At what time last year did they announce the rest of the Thursday night bill? Speaking of the Thursday, I hope they keep to the booking principle of the opening band being a New Blood band that did well the year before. HYOM absolutely killed it (and had a mas...

Re: Next Announcement

Book bands Metal Hammer think are shite, might end up with some brilliant bands considering their opinions  I genuinely used to buy Kerrang! in the '90s to read their reviews and find out which bands they hated, because that would probably mean I might like them. I discovered Primal Fear like ...

Re: Next Announcement

Back on topic, when can we expect more shite bands to be announced  Well, Bring Me the Horizon are the future of metal - (along with Parkway Drive and something called Beartooth) - I assume there are more of these bands hanging around ? What riches we have to look forwards to ! /sarcasm Metal ...

Re: Next Announcement

Never heard of any of them ! I do have a massive blind spot regarding death metal though. Quick googling suggests I'll check out The Lazys, 2 Headed Snake, Boss Keloid Skeletal Remains (death metal) The Lazys (some kind of hard rock band ?) 3 Headed Snake (I have no idea ? (MA thinks power metal) Bo...

Bought a Tyketto live album from that guy - paid on old-fashioned carbon paper print from my credit card. Power chords rang in the car home that Monday !

2019 Market - What are you looking forwards to ?

Since I've been a continually grumpy sod in the band announcements thread - What are you looking forwards to in the market ? Personally I really enjoyed the Mercian Storm tent & German / Dutch guy with the three-CDs-for-a-tenner boxes. The Mercian Storm tent had the added bonus of watching new b...

Personally I'm hoping for some more emocore. There's not enough on the Thursday
/ Friday / Sunday. I didn't get these neck tattoos for nothing.

(are Ill Nino really still going ?!)

Re: Next Announcement

Saw this posted on the official Bloodstock FB group: "You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't." I've been on the Bloodstock forums and on here for about 6 years now and the most common complaints/criticisms etc of the line ups have been similar most years. I mean, if you ju...

A riot? From black metal fans? This isn't early 90s Norway, haha.

There'll be lots of arms-folded-tutting from the beer tent / campsite

Terrifying stuff.

Re: Next Announcement

Taake will be an excellent hour or two in the tent.

Not sure on the others - seems to be a mix of more core / emo bands and Raging Speedhorn from some pub back room ?

Gamma Ray are playing festival shows... A bit of decent power metal would go a long way to balancing out the po-faced metalcore bands

Re: Next Announcement

A post from a user on another forum "Exactly. It seems to me that even though it's a metal festival the majority of Bloodstock fans aren't quite open to Metalcore. Each to their own of course but metal is metal regardless of a sub genre label." I must admit, my inner arsehole really enjoy...
