Re: First Timer Questions

On campsite selection - if you're not in a big group, take a long look at your neighbours before you put up your tent. Nothing worse than realising you've camped next door to fence-jumpers / aggro types just out for a weekend of unpleasantness. I got a couple of cool guys in denims & mirror shad...

Re: Next Announcement

I love that this thread has turned into nerding about dates.

Any word on decent New Blood / Jaeger bands at all ?

Re: Clashfinder

That's pretty much it for me too. The 2nd stage is really quite poor for my taste this year though. Still got a massive void of nothing on Saturday afternoon too so hoping some decent new blood bands are added there The trick (for me at least) is going to be staying lucid enough to see Taake - a br...

Didn't they have that youtube poll ? I imagine it'll be some rubbish like Lamb of God or Trivium.

Re: LIST TIME! Definitely / Likely / Maybe / Avoid.

Mine is quite easy, as I know what I like

I'll watch most anything, once.

I'll avoid the emoscreamo bands, as I know I don't like that type of music. Sorry Code Orange, Shapes, ParkwayFive...

Re: Next Announcement

It's not just those bands they're going wrong with. It's the entire lineups. The fact they haven't sold out yet and didn't last year either speaks wonders. They were even advertising the other day on social media that the festival is by the fans for the fans, when it's more like we pander to kerran...

Re: Next Announcement

I was watching footage from a dance festival the other day which was basically Colonel Sanders doing a DJ set. I'm wondering if that's the way live music is going to go - sure, there are stage sponsorships and endorsements for musicians, but I don't think we're far away from companies paying bands ...

Re: Next Announcement

Def Leppard are way too big for Bloodstock. Sadly Helloween aren't big enough in the UK for a headline slot. Megadeth, Ghost, Amon Amarth...great bands but they've all headlined recently. Shit like Architects is probably the most likely! There's an interview with Parkway Drive's frontman in Metal H...

Re: Themed stages

Not sure how I feel about this Pro - More niche bands on segregated stages, potential to lower the impact of booking hardcore / Slayer headliners on the rest of the lineup. Potential to bring on smaller bands in a genre-specific tent / stage. Con - Effectively segregating crowds for a good portion o...

Re: Next Announcement

Most of the Gregory clan are pretty into lifting. Vicky and Alan have a business selling lifting relate clothes so it is no surprise to see them promoting lifting at Bloodstock. Luckily it is easy to ignore and doesn't get in the way of enjoying the festival. True ! If it keeps a few big lumps out ...

Re: Next Announcement

Oh yeah also, apart from the heavy metal lifting thing its a decent announcement. Nothing too controversial. Would much rather have had the knights back though. The lifting club has never, nor is ever likely to inspire me. If anything its an inconvenience having to skirt around their arena just to ...

Re: Next Announcement

I'm guessing another 3-5 Sophie bands. At what time last year did they announce the rest of the Thursday night bill? Speaking of the Thursday, I hope they keep to the booking principle of the opening band being a New Blood band that did well the year before. HYOM absolutely killed it (and had a mas...
