Re: Next Announcement

Trivium makes the most sense from that list, considering the last few years BOA seem to have been booking a previous year's Download band to headline.

Re: Next Announcement

in the past year or two there's been a massive swell in the underground metal scene, particularly in the doom and heavy metal scene, why can't we have some of those bands? It's not just those bands they're going wrong with. It's the entire lineups. The fact they haven't sold out yet and didn't last...

Re: Themed stages

I might be wrong, but I'm sure I heard from a different festival that ticket sales pay for bands, everything else is paid for by stand pitches, camping, parking, sponsorship, grants, merch and beer sales.

Re: Next Announcement

Amplifieds 2nd and 3rd stages have bigger bands than what BOAs do. BOA has a bigger main stage, but BOA is a 20k capacity festival, Amplified is a quarter of the size.

Re: Next Announcement

The problem with that list is most of them are 3rd stage fodder, not 2nd stage. Most of these bands have played at Amplified in the last couple of years on their 2nd and 3rd stages. A festival which is a quarter of the size of BOA.

Re: Next Announcement

The fact that Download are now doing a dedicated Metal stage. Festivals such as Arctangent and Amplified are getting bigger each year. There are metal festivals popping up all over the country. If Hammerfest and its smaller festivals continue to expand. BOA could be in trouble in a few years if it d...

Re: Next Announcement

The likes of Firewind, Krisiun, The Ocean, Skalmold and Brainstorm wouldn't play beneath a headliner on the Sophie stage and would defintitely be on the main stage. Firewind haven't been popular for a decade nearly. They're certainly smaller than Battle Beast who headlined Sophie on the Thursday ni...

Re: Next Announcement

Even looking at the likes of Summer Breeze etc. The following bands could have easily played the Sophie stage - Midnight Krisiun Ahab Gaahls Wyrd The Ocean Skalmold Brainstorm Firewind They're all too big for the Sophie stage and would be on the main stage. They're really not. Both Brainstorm and T...

Re: Next Announcement

Most of these Sophie bands are playing at a lot of smaller rock festivals in the UK this year, there's nothing really that grabs your attention. Bands like Sulpher play on the 3rd stage at festivals such as Amplified. If BOA keep booking smaller bands on bigger stages, it won't be long until these s...

Re: Themed stages

People saying BOA isn't big enough. There are smaller festivals out there which book bigger bands on their smaller stages than what BOA does. Bloodstock has 4 stages as well as a massive area taken up by a Bodybuilding stage and I believe they can go to around 30k if they wanted to. Bearded Theory w...

Re: Next Announcement

My guess is Opeth or Behemoth as the smaller headliner. The more commercial band being Architects or Five Finger Death Punch and the classic headliner being Megadeth. Also expecting Body Count to be on the lineup.

Re: Themed stages

On the flip side, some people would argue that certain genres would be better suited to a tent rather than on an open air stage.

Re: Themed stages

Bloodstock would have to grow considerably (and start booking bands for the other stages that most folk have actually heard of) for this to work. I don't understand why BOA does this as there are smaller festivals in Europe who seem to be able to book more well known bands for their smaller stages....
