Re: Next Announcement

I imagine that Manowar are right out of contention already now ? They've never been in contention, their demands are way beyond what Bloodstock could afford or even want to bow down to. From Simon Hall's social media posts it's reasonable to presume the two have spoken before but got nowhere near a...

Re: 2019 Albums

According to my RYM account, I'm up to 98 albums released in 2019 so far. My loose top 25 (to be reviewed at the end of the year) is currently - Lots I haven't heard there, which gives me stuff to check out as I've been struggling to get excited about much this year. I didn't like Soen or Devin and...

Re: Next Announcement

But you could put it the other way. Which band has songs that people know? I would probably know all of Metal Churches songs but wouldn't know one of Tesseract's. Would Rainbow headline? They've not released an album since the year dot. When was the last album anyone bought by the Scorpions? I have...

Re: Next Announcement

I think you mean Friday, but either way that's simply not true. Powerwolf, Bodom and Soulfly all sold more than Tesseracts last album. Metal Church's previous album also got to number 25 in the chart, which should in theory place them a couple of slots higher on the lineup too. :? Metal Church have...

Re: TV: Current and Recent

Haven't posted in here for ages so... Game of Thrones has been excellent so far. First episode was a gentle reintroduction, second the calm before the storm and third FUCK ME SIDEWAYS Doctor Who - couple of decent episodes towards the end of the season but overall this was probably the worst since t...

Re: movies

I much prefer the MCU films to the Dark Knight ones tbh. The third Nolan Batman film was quite ropey. They're just so much more fun and I like an injection of humour in a superhero film. But just diving in with Avengers 1 & 2, leaving out all the films before and in between, is bound to leave yo...

Re: 2019 Albums

Still struggling to find much metal that really excites me this year. Queensryche is the best of them although I'm warming to the Aephanemer album. The Manowar EP is the best thing they've done in a while and I love the new Sabaton track. But mostly it's just been stuff that's OK/forgettable/harmles...

Re: LIST TIME! Definitely / Likely / Maybe / Avoid.

Main Stage Bands I love: Sabaton, Cradle of Filth, Anthrax, Death Angel  Bands I like: Ross the Boss, Queensryche, Powerwolf, Dee Snider :) Bands I'd watch if nothing else was happening but wouldn't care to miss: Metal Church, Children of Bodom, The Scorpions, Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy, Soilwork...

Re: Next Announcement

I used to know about 30-40 people who'd go to Bloodstock every year, perhaps more. it was like an annual away day for every metal fan I knew in Plymouth. This year I'm only aware of 3. Whether this is a general reflection or just anecdotal I couldn't say, for every old fan they've lost I'm sure they...

Re: Next Announcement

Political lyrics are ok if I agree with them  I'm fairly left/central politically and to be honest, I can't think of many particularly right wing artists at all, let alone any I like. Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, Vikernes...I'd imagine Slayer, Manowar and Metallica lean to the right but none of them a...

Re: 2019 Albums

Got about halfway through the Devin album. I've never been much of a fan but this is proper shit. To be honest I'm struggling to get excited by much so far this year, I've liked Overkill, Flotsam & Jetsam, Candlemass, Saor and Queensryche but none of them are amazing or anything. Very much looki...

Re: Next Announcement

Def Leppard are way too big for Bloodstock. Sadly Helloween aren't big enough in the UK for a headline slot. Megadeth, Ghost, Amon Amarth...great bands but they've all headlined recently. Shit like Architects is probably the most likely!

Re: Next Announcement

Well that pretty much puts paid to any lingering thoughts I had of going. After a promising initial couple of announcements this year's line up has again completely failed to inspire me. I don't know if I'm just old and out of touch with what people like in the metal scene nowadays but there are onl...
