Re: Deal Makers

My five would be:
Judas Priest
Autopsy
Incantation
Immolation
Terrorizer

The last four I've never seen so the novelty factor is high for me, and
Priest don't require any explanation.

Re: BOA room 101

Sabaton Avantasia Opeth You're welcome to your obviously incorrect views, but it would nice if you gave some justification! Seeing as you asked so nicely: Sabaton - I don't like their music or image and they are over here all the time. Avantasia - embody the worst excesses of the metal genre. Opeth...

Re: "Find of the Festival" / New, Exciting Discoveries

Anihilated for me, I can't believe I'd never heard of these guys before, considering how long they've been around. Total Slayer worship, but in a good way.

Jasad were good as well.

Spot on! All of the above plus a more inclusive Bloodstock, is that too much to ask for?

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

Well I put those three bands as they are by far the biggest extreme Metal bands in existence. If they can't pull the punters in then who can? Sabaton play all the time yet they sell out the same venues those bands struggle to fill. Name the Grindcore bands that you are wanting. I guarantee they las...

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

Nah. Most Grindcore and Extreme Metal gigs have half a dozen paying punters and the rest are band members. I've been to hundreds of them over the years. Even the big name bands like Carcass, Cannibal Corpse and Obituary have to tour as package deals nowdays as they struggle to sell tickets otherwis...

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

True - but BOA was about the only festival where there was a significant prescence of those kinds of bands, whereas, as you say, you're grind fix can be found elsewhere. Yep, I agree and the grindcore community have things like chimpyfest in London the week after Bloodstock. Why don't the power met...

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

You could argue that it was originally a Power and Traditional Metal festival though. It certainly wasn't a Grindcore or Extreme Metal festival. Even so there are plenty of one dayers that do that kind of thing far better. I would argue that Bloodstock is no longer a Power and Traditional Metal fes...

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

Hmmm....not really sure about Skarthia, I'm sure they're great at what they do, but they are at the very edges of the death metal genre. I'm not a fan of melodeath, proggy death or overly techy-death. My comfort zone is grindcore/power violence/br00tal death if that helps anyone with suggestions. I ...

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

Yeah, the FBA dude is cool, however I've seen him almost as many times as I've seen Desecration, as he seems to always be in a support slot. Whilst the guy is undoubtedly talented, I'm not really convinced by the one man death metal thing that's becoming increasingly popular these days. It's a bit l...

Excellent choices Cassius! Assuming there are no clashes I will be checking out these two bands on the New Blood stage.

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

Thanks Florence, I liked what I heard of Jasad, will definately check them out. Not so sure about Codex Alimentarius, Ageless Oblivion or Ne Obliviscaris as I can get bored quickly of proggy/tech death bands like Opeth and Nile. Not a fan of symphonic stuff either, which is why I'll be giving Fleshg...

Just spotted Burden of the Noose on the New Blood stage, which I will check out as well as they were a good support band for RSH last year.

Re: Death/grind bands worth checking

Thanks for the recommendation dude, I like the more extreme doom stuff so Bast are right up my street!
