Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Blaze Bayley's iron maiden set at burr fest. I managed to see Elixir too, for the first time, and they were great,. Sometimes nwobhm bands are past it, but not them, they sounded great! Blaze Maiden on record isn't my favourite, but those songs always sound amazing live, like totally transformed. It...

I almost always find a good chunk of stuff to watch at damnation, but this doesn't thrill me so far.

It depends on how they play it, and how good their first album is. They should stay away from the nostalgia fests and make a cracking album. If not, Butllins beckons.

Re: KK Downing forms glorified Judas Priest tribute band

Tribute band with more Priest members than Priest has currently  Not really. Current Priest has Halford, Travis & Hill who are all more established Priest members than anyone in KK's band (with the exception of KK himself obviously) Though you could create all kinds of metrics to qualify t...

Re: KK Downing forms glorified Judas Priest tribute band

There are a number of highly capable ex—Priest members in that 'tribute band'. I, for one, will be looking out for a tour!

Re: Last Gig/Next Gig Thread

Last - Rhapsody of Fire, Manchester. The supports where ok, they both had talented members, but the songs lacked character for me. As for ROF, Second time seeing them with the new line-up, they were even better this time. I wonder if the Turilli/Lione Rhapsody can match it In April? Next: Blaze Bayl...

Machine Head would still be heading. Doesn’t stop the recent stuff being below par though.

Re: Bands that got away... so far.

I just thought of another! Borknagar! However, they play so infrequently (usually london, natch) I'm not surprised I haven't seen them. Good news then, playing HRH Vikings in Sheffield in November(?) Without just spamming out Thrash bands I'll stick to the bigger names  Aerosmith and AC/DC spr...

Going to see his maiden set in London. Lots of midweek dates here, so I’ll have to look at this closer to the time.

Re: Bands that got away... so far.

Cathedral some how - they seemed to be playing everywhere all of the time, for a period, but I never managed to catch them live. Stratovarius - I actually have a ticket stub from a show of theirs, and photos of them at Bloodstock, but absolutely no memory of either event. I suppose that counts ? Th...
