Re: What pissed you off today

Banned by Facebook, who don't believe my name is what it is. Even after I'd sent them a scan of my driving licence. And there is no way to talk to anyone about it :-(

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Am I going to sink so low as to gloat over this? Why yes, I am.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I certainly wouldn't support Scotland in a football tournament and would probably find myself cheering on whoever was playing them Really? That seems bizarre to me. In my case I'll obviously Scotland because my mum's Scottish, but I still support Wales and the two Irelands, even though I have no di...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

So what happened to Harry Kane after the Colombia match? Was he even playing? The thing I don't understand was that he was playing in a much deeper role. He's one of the best poachers in the game, but he needs to be near the goal to do that. Most of the time, Sterling, Rashford and others were our ...

Re: The Voting Age

I'd say somewhere around 21. You only have to look at some of the ill-informed political rantings of the young to see that, while there will obviously be exceptions, en masse I don't believe that people are sufficiently mature at that age to be having a say in the destiny of the country. And yes, th...

Ha ha. That's a bit optimistic. I'll see him at Wacken the following week.

Yep. I'll be doing everything I can to vote our current Labour council out of power.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Silverware is the only reasonable measure of success in football. Without it a club are perennial failures I couldn't disagree more strongly. Top 4 is so much more important than the FA Cup now, it's not even something that should be up for consideration. Of course I'd have liked to get to the fina...

Gandalf the Red wrote:"battle jackets", we never called them that back in the day BTW.

Agreed. They were always called patch jackets. Even if they didn't have patches (mine was hand embroidered, for example).

Re: What made you Lol Today?

I don't think anyone has claimed their winning pint since Freyja won a good few years ago, apart from me when I won it and claimed my pint off myself. He didn't claim it, but I bought Gandalf one the other year anyway after I'd foolishly volunteered to do so when no one else stepped up in the Bingo...

It's not just that we can score without Kane. It's how we did it. Eriksen's goal and Dele's first were both spectacular.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

A disappointing result, but ultimately, I'm not too unhappy. We acquitted ourselves well against a team that are probably in the top 3 in the world right now. Yes, we should have won, and had the chance to do so. But we didn't take it. So be it. Now we'll just concentrate on the league and the FA Cu...

Darkweasel's story about Deacon Blue. He had many amusing commentaries about various things, and continues to do so on Facebook. Among those I saved include: ...listening to The Butcher Babies album is like shitting on your own face. The only snookerist I don't like is Anthony Hamilton. Shifty litt...
