Re: A free-for-all thread

Reality-worshippers, consider this: In a dream you meet people who say and do things that surprise you, even though those characters are created by your own mind. So, can you be sure that the people you meet in waking life are not also your own subcionscious creations? :eyes: I'm not a solipsist my...

Re: movies

Massawyrm's review of Sex and the City on Aint It Cool is pretty funny. Also from Ain't it cool, a rumour that there may be a Beverley Hills Cop 4 That rumour's been around for a while, hope they don't do it...but with the current trend of 'revitalising' franchises, I reckon it's likely, if only to...

Re: movies

Saw Doomsday last night....what a load of bollox. They've taken 28 days later, Resident Evil and Mad Max, removed any of the good bits, added a shit load of bad dialogue and hired the worst effects team they could. I don't think I've seen a film with so many cliches before. The mild saving grace wa...

Re: What pissed you off today

It's hard enough to get a decent view at the best of times, what with always seeming to get stuck behing the tallest/widest bloke in the venue Haha, yep. I'm 6' 3", but even I always get stuck behind one bloke who's taller than me, and whenever I shuffle to one side to see round him, he leans ...

Housemate having used every bloody plate, bowl, mug, fork, knife and spoon in the house in the last 48 hours, and washed none of it.

I don't have that much faith in the integrity or consistency of 'reality'.

Re: A free-for-all thread

There's a paranormal theory that objects sometimes actually disappear/teleport away: In November 2003, the SPR focused its Study Day on the “jottle.” The jottle, we are told in April 2004 Paranormal Review, “Is a particular form of JOTT (Just One of Those Things), a general term for discontinuities...

Ha, nice. The Russians accusing people of distorting history. I have a friend whose best friend is Russian, and the shit she was taught at school (and still believes to this day) boggles the mind. Based on her, the history that's taught in Russia is almost entirely fabricated.

Re: The Book thread

Just started Hood by Stephen Lawhead. Looks it does for Robin Hood what his Pendragon Cycle did for King Arthur. Being a Nottinghamian, I naturally have to read it.

Re: The Book thread

Fatal Revenant by Stephen Donaldson. Much though I love the first two Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Last Chronicles are so far shaping up to be vastly inferior. Ho hum.

I'm hoping that I'll get the whole Fenchurch thing this time. I seem to have a mental block about her. I've read the Guide countless times in the last fifteen years or so, and at no point have I quite grasped what the bollocking bollocks is meant to be going on with Fenchurch.
