Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.
He was at one of the Sci-Fi/Memorabilia fairs at the NEC a few years ago, but I forgot to go and speak to him after meeting Ingrid Pitt and Caroline Munro. He was one of the nicest 'stars' I've ever met. I was genuinely upset when he died, have very fond memories of getting pissed with him. He was ...

Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.
Only those of my generation will probably know Gareth Thomas of Blake's 7 fame. Died yesterday aged 71, I loved this show as a kid, a gritty science fiction show (with admittedly very cheap special effects!) set in a dystopian future where the heroes are terrorists fighting a universal fascist regim...

Re: movies
I largely agree with Darkweasel's review. Spoilers here... I'd have cut out all the dream sequences (particularly the Clark Kent one which was uber boring), the Batman origin story (does anyone not know this by now?!), the trailers for the other DC Warner films, Wonder Woman (I thought Gadot was gre...

Re: movies
Yep, looks fucking awful, and of course the media have declared anyone who doesn't like it a sexist despite the fact that from the trailer we can see the characters are badly written, it's unfunny and the sfx are awful. The sfx look perfectly fine to me. I don't like to draw too many conclusions fr...

Re: TV: Current and Recent
Watched the second season of Fargo which was great although I thought the finale a bit of a damp squib. Giving Vikings a go now after hearing great things, opening episode is quite promising.

Re: TV: Current and Recent
I thought Better Call Saul was bloody brilliant personally. I'm about to start the second season of Fargo at last, as well as catch up with the first couple of episodes of the new Agent Carter. As it stands, my favourite TV show of 2015 was a toss up between Ash Vs the Evil Dead and Mr Robot.

Re: movies
I absolutely hated Locke! Bored the shit out of me. I watched The Revenant yesterday, thought it had come and gone at the cinema so searched out an immoral copy, since found out it's not out in the UK for another couple of weeks and wish I'd waited. This will look gorgeous on the big screen, incredi...

Spoiler alert??
I'm meant to put that at the beginning aren't I?
Think so. If I hadn't already seen it I'd have had you marked for death at this point though.

Re: movies
Star Wars was an intense training in holding my piss. I didn't wanna miss a thing so it turns out my bladder can deal with a "large" cinema coke for over 2 hours without bursting and spilling toxics into my blood. but seriously. Rather good movie. I could easily point at flaws, but at it'...

Re: movies
Carrie Fisher looks to have had so much plastic surgery done that she can barely open her mouth properly when she speaks. Makes it difficult to act or emote.

Re: movies
Yes star wars was good, with great atmosphere but too much convenient plot progression. I'll leave it there. Jj's star trek is a better Sci Fi film in my opinion. I don't know, I enjoyed the first Trek movie (not so much the second) but I've never felt the need to re-visit it. I'm already consideri...

Re: movies
Without wishing to spoiler I can agree with almost everything here. I don't have any faults with it, but I'm not fussy. It's easily my film of the year, and probably in the top 2 Star Wars films for me. Not sure about film of the year, lots of stuff I like the look of I haven't seen yet. In terms o...

Re: movies
Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This felt far more like a Star Wars film than the prequels, lots of humour, fun characters, old and new and a more grounded universe, with less CGI, more physical effects and locations. I had a lot of fun with it and a smile on my face throughout. That said, I do have s...

Re: TV: Current and Recent
Despite being disappointed with the first half of S6 I am excited about what's to come, if they do it right. I think the show will benefit from having a human protagonist again, I just hope they make a better job of Negan than they did the Governor. I very much doubt we'll see some of the stuff from...

Re: TV: Current and Recent
Even the mid season finale of The Walking Dead was anti-climatic. After such a promising start this season has really disappointed. Thank fuck for Ash Vs the Evil Dead which remains the most fun thing that's ever been shown on television. Just started Mr Robot, 2 episodes in and seems pretty intrigu...
