Re: Non-Metal Music Chat

Dead Can Dance - best band ever. No one ever has and no one ever will create anything better than them two. And by extension - Lisa's solo output (first 2) and Brendan's too (the only 2). love love love them, one of the best bands I've ever seen live! Have you heard Farscape with Lisa and Klaus Sch...

Re: What has made you happy today

Was already happy with the brutal assault lineup, but having Zhrine, Devin Townsend Project, Swallow The Sun and Tiamat playing Wildhoney in full is an excellent addition to me, especially as I've never seen the former or latter - other than Zhrine they all provide a change of pace to the majority d...

Re: Non-Metal Music Chat

I think that while not infallible with the hard rock/metal divide, the metal archives has probably the best way to differentiate between what they do and don't accept. If a band has released one full album that's unequivocally metal - i.e. Thunder and Lightning, Burn - (I haven't heard these, it's j...

Re: Trivial Grumblings

I'm sick of "holier than thou" gig promoters not putting up set times for shows until the day itself (if at all) and saying when asked "turn up early and support everyone". At least a few days notice is good for people who work and travel in from outside London who might love to ...

Re: Non-Metal Music Chat

I'm really into ambient and drone. Lately I've been listening to Draugurinn a lot, and trying and failing to find any ritual ambient that comes close to that sort of thing, a lot of stuff resulting from searching for it having more of a somewhat cheesy oriental/Vedic vibe than a dark Nordic one. I w...

Re: Trivial Grumblings

Idiot me read that Devourment rather than Embryonic Devourment were playing Netherlands Death Fest and spent best part of six months excited for a band that were never even playing. I can see the funny side, but then Katalepsy and Darvaza dropped out too who I was both looking forward to, making it ...

Re: What has made you happy today

Been accepted into the university I wanted for my masters degree. Shame I didn't get my shit together earlier so I could have started already - October feels like miles off.

Re: Computer Games Thread

In terms of FFXV I expect it to be years by the time I get around to it, just play fifa and gears of war online so I can listen to music most of the time. Playing the latest tomb raider on and off and love that. Still got COD:IW that came with the Xbox, and 3 assassin creeds, a batman, forza and hal...

Re: What has made you happy today

I am loving this heat. I know not everyone likes it, but given 4/5 days I'm cycling in wind and rain this has been beautiful. Just had an interview for a job I think I'd actually quite like doing. Find out tomorrow. More money, less hours. Nope, didn't get it >:( Doomed to be doing this forever god...

Re: What has made you happy today

Tattoo shop I used that royally fucked up a few months ago have been messing me around for ages with an appointment to get it sorted. Finally got one sorted out so went in to London early on Wednesday and on my way there got a call saying they're running late - can I come at six instead of half four...

Re: Trivial Grumblings

Been really unwell since Saturday. On top of the cold, sinus headaches and nausea I''ve got terrible dizziness and disorientation any time I get up and do anything, even if jsut to the kitchen or toilet. Started on the train to Birmingham for Rainbow last week, but had a few drinks with some friends...

Re: What pissed you off today

So I checked my bank statement online yesterday, and found out I've been a victim of bank fraud and had to stop my card - they day before I leave for hellfest. To make matters worse, I then go to charge my phone, no charger out of six has worked and it's been dead ever since. And still not recovered...

Re: Trivial Grumblings

No distros in Europe have 2 LPs I want, and with postage ordering from US comes to $98. Can't find any cheap accommodation whatsoever in Birmingham for Ritchie Blackmore either, so might just rough it the night.
