As for a film... that could work quite well.
BioShock was pretty much a sequel to System Shock 2, and it managed it while being completely unrelated.

I'm reading Charlie Brooker's Dawn of the Dead, on loan from Jono. What a glorious tome of pure venom! Love it. I am also reading Arthur C. Clarke's 'Profiles of the Future', a book of essays on his predicitions of the future made in the 60s I believe, but also with amendments made in recent years. ...
