Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
Yeah, it's antiquated. I'd prefer some STV/PR hybrid.

I saw that Gandalf replied and I knew it would be a comment about the legitimacy of the polls.

Re: movies
I actually really dug Alien: Covenant. I think it struck a nice balance of the first three films for style and suspense, but with the budget and flair of Prometheus.

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
YouGov have released the voting demographic stats, and it's fascinating. Labour actually got the highest vote share across all forms of employment and unemployment, except for the retired (who hugely voted Tory). EDIT: Here's the link: https://yougov.co.uk/news/2017/06/13/how-britain-voted-2017-gene...

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
Yeah, with the DUP onside they have enough votes to carry the Queen's Speech. I'm not sure how long May lasts. There's some talk of the EU delaying negotiations by a year. If that happens, I could see it being prior to the amended kick-off - so that there's no unneeded distractions from the negotiat...

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)

It is looking like the DUP are going to prop May up.

It's now being reported that she's been diagnosed with a long-term illness. Sounds like it could actually be something quite serious.

Re: movies
Really enjoyed Wonder Woman. Comfortably the best DC film, and one of the better origin stories that any super hero film has given us.

Re: TV: Current and Recent
This season has comfortably been Capaldi's best, and imo one of the better seasons since it was brought back.

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
Did anyone watch the Paxman interviews? I missed the actual show, though saw a few clips online and read a few reports. It sounds like neither overly harmed their chances. Slightly more people seem to think Corbyn handled it better. Most seem to agree that Paxman is passed it. Would anyone agree / d...

I understand your point, even if I don't agree with it. I think we need a total ban, and to encourage other nations to do it also. This is what will help prevent it happening in the first place. Yes, there'll be black market trade (as there is in anything), but I think removing it's acceptability wh...
