Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

As for selling someone because they want to leave? I wouldn't cave that easily, they could sell him for bonkers money but replacing him will be hard. Other clubs with players of near equal stature is going to up their price or you buy players of lesser quality. If it's a choice between that and a l...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I agree that teams need to try to keep hold of their best players, but when that player actively wants to go, then get rid of them as soon as possible and try to get a decent replacement. The disruption they cause is stupid. As much as I like the idea of someone like Arsenal trying to keep Sanchez, ...

Surprisingly cheap in this stupidly inflated market. I think he'll be quite a good player for them too.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I'm an Arsenal fan and every year is like groundhog day now. I know they make top four every year but it all seems pointless when they don't make it beyond the same point in the Champions league. I guess it's just become boring so people want change regardless of whether or not it improves things. ...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38696547 surprised he cost so much as he hasn't done anything since throwing that wobbly  If Sterling is £50m worth, I'm not surprised at all. I'm guessing Stoke are hoping that he turns his attitude around though, he had a promising career until he got too ...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I feel bad for both of them really. After last season Villa were never going to instantly start winning, and Swansea have had a hard start. I guess that's the way it is now, you can spend the summer making sure your manager signs a new contract and then fire them after narrowly losing to a side who ...

Re: TV: Current and Recent

The final was good, all the robots were at least decent and had some form of competition. Bit disappointed by the final match itself though, mostly because (*MILD SPOILER*) both the weapons died so it was just two robots driving around. It was an enjoyable return overall though, hopefully it comes b...

Re: TV: Current and Recent

Apparently he was trying to go for a "villain" role, which could have worked, but when his robot had done bugger all, that arrogant posturing made him come across really badly. I loved it when he was calling someone else a coward in the last fight. Really mate? Overall, I'm a little under...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

It seems like he'd grind out more wins than Hodgson, but I can't see many people playing for him. Nor does the team seem to really suit his play style. Should be fun to watch.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Bit annoyed that Roy finally decided to play a style that actually suited his team in the second half against us. Still pretty confident Wales can get through though, Russia haven't looked good at all this tournament. Fully expect England to go back to playing passively and doing nothing against Sl...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Seriously. I've seen that Burnley are the same odds to win the League as Leicester was. What's the odds that Leicester will go straight down? Might be worth a punt. :P I'd definitely consider it, what with the fact they'll have to play Tuesday night as well as the fact they'll probably lose half of...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

As much as I'd like to see Leicester win the league this year, I'd like them to at least make it interesting. This season is looking like it'll be pretty stale by the last few games again, Newcastle, Sunderland and Villa are all looking pretty resigned to going down, and even Man City, who looked li...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

They definitely do seem to be the kind of team that would drop like a stone if Wenger left. His trouble has always been that he refuses to change in any way - he won't change his tactics when it's needed, and he won't sign the one or two new players they'd need to make a significant challenge. That ...
