Ah ok, so does that then mean that it's held in the off season? or will the season continue through June so the African cup of nations still gets its chance to get in the way?

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I'm curious how does the winter world cup scheme affect the African cup of nations? Would that be then moved to the summer months?

Re: movies

Jinn 6/10 - I like a b-movie and that is what this certainly is even if it doesn't seem to be aware of this, some of the antagonists are genuinely creepy and it's well filmed...the acting is almost universally shit and the title is a little weird to look at as i'm far more used to seeing it spelt Dj...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I think our match against Stoke yesterday was for the most part probably the least convincing 4-1 result i've seen in a long time. Granted it picked up as the game progressed but it still wasn't good enough really, regardless of the goal tally.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Some observations: - Liverpool are playing like the real deal. If they could play the way they played against Chelsea more consistently, they'd be firmly in the top 4 by now. - Diego Costa. What a cock. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCXdlxZ5RiM Devils advocate Henderson and Lucas could easily h...

Re: movies

Taken 3 - Decent film, better than the second, would always have been pretty hard for it to beat the first one though. Neeson is probably my favourite actor for this kind of role, he has a very expressive face and tone of voice that really give his character a bit of depth in a movie that largely de...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Although that said last season we gave them a good game we just got undone in both legs (not helped by Demichelis being sent off in the first one).

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Is that why Celtic and to a lesser extent Rangers have beaten major European teams in recent years? Including Celtic beating Barcelona, Spartak Moscow and drawing against Benfica in the Champions League a couple of years ago. Find me a Championship side that could do that. Hell even Man City can't ...

Re: What has made you happy today

Not today as such but yesterday i was a roadie for the Amon Amarth gig which was pretty cool. Met all the bands on the bill and set the stage up...then Johan had to go to hospital because he woke up without his voice and everyone was fretting the thing would be cancelled entirely, eventually Amon Am...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Just seen that it's been confirmed Valdes will be Utd's number 2 keeper http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30736791 , Unless De Gea gets injured or (unlikely but possible) hits a bad run of form I can only see Valdes getting game time next season. What with Utd only being in 2 competitions now, ...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

I think I'm with Gandalf on this one, if a jury after examining the evidence comes back with a guilty verdict then clearly the evidence must be compelling. Whether he actually did it or not i wouldn't like to say but i do believe anyone with that as a solid conviction on their record has no place be...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

To be fair i think teams like Chelsea and City do see a use for the cup, if Pellegrini and/or Mourinho fail to secure a league win or advancement in the champions league an FA Cup can get them a stay of execution.
