Re: The Book thread
Reading 'the miner' by Natsume Sõskei. Its one of Murukami's favourites apparently- you can see the influence really clearly. Its pretty existential for a book written at the turn of last century, which is cool and interesting. At the other end of the scale, I just finished Mortal Engines. Really e...

The lack of whinging is down to the bands been more.'old skool' Bloodstock types. Facebook, however, apears to have more whinging than normal, probably for the very same reason!

R.I.P. Only saw Manilla Road once, but they played for ages, so I got to hear loads of my faves. I feel lucky to have seen them now.
A much underrated band, Crystal Logic is a genuine classic record imo. He will be missed.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread
I wouldn't necessarily 'cheer on' Scotland, but I do prefer British teams to win - due to been British. I always keep an eye out for the others qualifying for major competitions. Excessive partisan rhetoric is indeed part of the fun of football, and when England play other home nations I play that r...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread
So what happened to Harry Kane after the Colombia match? Was he even playing? Yeah, that's erm, thats not working. As ever, genuinely, best of luck for the euros. I am always happy for other home nations to qualify and do well; and, unless there playing England, they will always have my support. I ...

Re: The Voting Age
Its controversial but I would say 25, with at least 2 years in full time work. You need an informed choice when you vote. What happens if the country then develops high level of youth unemployment ala Spain? Or if predictions come true and the gig economy becomes the norm? Not knocking your idea ju...

I don't see that the work requirement is essential but your 25 age minimum might be supported by science: https://mentalhealthdaily.com/2015/02/18/at-what-age-is-the-brain-fully...

Re: # Me too!
^ By human nature I mean brain function and the underlying genetics. If conditions change in future, such as a big decline in energy supply, then morality could 'go back' to something harsher. If we continue down the liberal path then I'm pretty sure today's snowflakes will be appalled at some beha...

Re: # Me too!
I think this hysteria will pass. Modern media needs, not just to garner interest, but to draw a reaction (comment, like, dislike, share) for a story to gain traction. Therefore, stories have to push people's buttons and get them to interact - #metoo is another one of these information age phenomenon...
