Yes, they did. I was underwhelmed. From my review: "It feels as though they want to be Dimmu Borgir, but they lack both the songs and the stage presence to do so."

I very much agree with this. Yes, two years is a short gap. But at the same time, it's their 50th year, and they are in my mind the single most important band in the history of heavy metal.

As others have said, that's heresy! It's their best album and even if the title track isn't the strongest, it's still decent enough. But yes, I'd obviously very much like to see them back at Bloodstock.

Re: Next Announcement

So far, there's only one band for me on this year's lineup: Gloryhammer. Of the rest, Devin and Dark Tranquillity can be OK on their day. Jinjer are dreadful, but were inevitable, given the (inexplicable to me) hype that's been following them around of late. There are still plenty of bands to be ann...

All of those. But like you, I'd be happy to see them anyway.

From what I've heard, they're dedicating the whole of next year to Demons & Wizards.

Big yes from me. At the festival this year, Vicky asked me to pick just one band that I wanted to see next year, and I went for Unleash The Archers. One of the best live acts in metal at the moment.

Re: Use of Referendums

Referendums should, broadly speaking, (virtually) never be binding. Legally binding or not, it's virtually impossible for a government to press ahead with a policy when the majority has voted for something else. Cameron could have said "yeah, but it was only advisory - we'll stay in the EU&quo...

Oddly, I was talking to him about that at Bloodstock. He just says he can't be arsed with the forum any more.

Re: BOA 2019: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.

The good : * The bands. A much better mainstage lineup for my tastes than in many previous years (although the lower stages weren't as good for me this year). * The people. Always good to catch up with those I generally only see once a year. The bad : * The cups. I saw them and thought it was fanta...
