Re: movies

Wonder Woman, although not without its problems, is really good fun and the first of the DCU that I've enjoyed. Gal Gadot is great and has good chemistry with Pine, the movie has a heart and a fair few laughs whilst also not shying away from showing the horrors of war (as much as a 12a can do!). I d...

Re: Non-Metal Music Chat

I listen to more non metal stuff than I do metal nowadays, particularly singer-songwriter stuff. Most of my metal listening is done if I'm out running, sat at home I seem to just like chilling out. Middle age for you! Looking at my lastfm last 6 months, the only metal bands in it are Sabbath, Slayer...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Should have said. I would have sent you to all the decent boozers including one that has Reign In Blood on the jukebox. Not everyone I was with would have been quite so thrilled by that! I ended up in The White Star talking to a very bitter Evertonian who had no kind words to say about LFC at all. ...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Rather unsurprisingly Argyle have made a complete pig's ear of ticket sales for the Liverpool replay but fortunately I've got one! Great day out parking the bus at Anfield last Sunday and the night out on the piss in Liverpool the evening before. Expecting an assing this time round tbh!

Re: movies

I've not posted for probably a year now. So it's quite convenient that letterboxd provides a year in review so you can see some stats about my film watching in the last 12 months. http://letterboxd.com/nslater90/year/2016/ That's quite flashy and statnerdtastic. Almost tempted to upgrade to Pro mys...

Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.

2016 has saved its biggest body blow until the end. I grew up with Star Wars, was aged between 7-12 when the original trilogy came out and was obsessed with it. Really rather sad about this. RIP Carrie.

Re: TV: Current and Recent

With the year coming to a close, I'd say my favourite drama shows of the year were

1. Game of Thrones
2. Ash Vs the Evil Dead
3. Westworld
4. Better Call Saul
5. The Walking Dead
6. Stranger Things

To be honest, can't think of anything else I watched

Re: TV: Current and Recent

After defending The Walking Dead as being on the top of its game a few weeks back it's gone into one of its downward spirals. Too much padding, not enough time spent with the characters we care about and I'm finding Negan's rule a little hard to swallow. He offers so many opportunities for his belea...

Re: TV: Current and Recent

I agree with Darkweasel on The Walking Dead, absolutely at the top of it's game so far in season 7. Can't remember the last time I've enjoyed this many episodes in a row before for ages! I'm really enjoying Westworld, bit of a slow burner but this weeks episode really upped the ante. Ash Vs Evil Dea...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Granted that display against Liverpool was appalling but other than that why do Everton fans hate Martinez so much? They're mid table and have reached the semi finals of the Cup, that's about their level imo. They had a couple of seasons flirting with the Europa league under Moyes but for most of th...

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread

Yes, the decisions were very inconsistent. Vardy's first yellow was unlucky. His second yellow was a little on the harsh side, but I could see why it was given. Leicester's penalty, though? A complete farce of a decision, and one that wouldn't surprise me to see result in Moss being dropped from th...

Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.

My mistake. I think I was thinking it was Doctor Who. Then I came to the conclusion that it was probably Children Of The Stones. I just remember something about Stonehenge or something. Funnily enough I watched the first episode of that on YouTube the other night, never saw it originally. It ...

Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.

Gareth was never in Doctor Who. He appeared in an episode of Torchwood and did some audio stuff with Big Finish but not the show itself.
