Re: TV: Current and Recent
Haven't posted in here for ages so... Game of Thrones has been excellent so far. First episode was a gentle reintroduction, second the calm before the storm and third FUCK ME SIDEWAYS Doctor Who - couple of decent episodes towards the end of the season but overall this was probably the worst since t...

Re: movies
I much prefer the MCU films to the Dark Knight ones tbh. The third Nolan Batman film was quite ropey. They're just so much more fun and I like an injection of humour in a superhero film. But just diving in with Avengers 1 & 2, leaving out all the films before and in between, is bound to leave yo...

Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.
Jacqueline Pearce has died today at 74. Starred in a couple of Hammer Horror movies, Doctor Who, The Avengers etc. but was famous for her iconic performance as Servalan in the BBC cheapo sci-fi series Blakes 7. I imagine she'll be well remembered amongst those of us in our 40s and beyond.

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
I'll vote, our current Labour MP is a top bloke, the Tory we had before was an absolute cockwomble. Not that I'd ever vote Tory anyway.

Re: The (Un) Official Football thread
I hate the fact that some football fans consider finishing 4th in the league to be better than winning the FA Cup. Sure it'll make your club more money but as a fan, what will you remember in years to come? What will be written in the history books?

Re: movies
I loved The Shape of Water and was delighted to see a fantasy film win best picture at the Oscars, even if I did think 3 Billboards was ultimately more deserving. There seems to have been a bit of a backlash against Shape because of this, so many people wanted Billboards to win that they've started ...

Re: movies
Empire Star Wars Return I'm not sure where to put The Last Jedi yet, need to see it again. It's not as much fun as The Force Awakens but I have spent more time thinking about it and I like that it somewhat subverted expectations. So it could sit anywhere amongst the new three...but at the moment I'd...

Re: The rather morbid celebrity RIP Thread.
Gutted to hear about Warrel Dane, am a huge fan of Nevermore and Sanctuary, saw Nevermore several times and recall seeing Sanctuary back in '88 supporting Megadeth. He was a complete piss head though, which led to the break up of the first band, seems to have had something to do with it. Will be ban...

Re: movies
I actually preferred the new Blade Runner to the original, which I always thought a tad over-rated.

Re: movies
Finally got round to seeing Alien: Covenant. Perhaps it was my lowered expectations but I really enjoyed it. A much more stripped back, back to basics Alien film, which is what I want out of them. Good fun.

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
I would like to congratulate Theresa May on a quite remarkable achievement. I hate her today more than I did yesterday and before. Really didn't think that was possible!!

Re: The UK political thread (formerly independence thread)
Quite surprised to see so many people voting Tory here, historically they've always been the party the metal and alternative scenes hate the most!!

Re: movies
Agreed on Wonder Woman, it was pretty damn good. I also finally watched Batman vs Superman, and while it is very flawed it is nowhere near as bad as everyone made it out to be. The extended cut was an improvement but I still didn't think much of it. It was all just too dull, miserable and grey...an...

Re: TV: Current and Recent
I think Doctor Who has been really good this year personally. The 3 parter that's just finished was particularly impressive for the first 2 but fell apart a bit in the end. Loving the current Tardis team, wish they'd stick around a bit longer
